Showdown at the WH between the Governors and the king on raising it. This is a first, first time in 6 years that I actually agree with the current occupant in the WH and condone his stance on any issue.

Bring it on, I say. Actually, I've been saying it for a decade or longer. Minimum Wage should be at least $10.00/hour - in this Country anyway.

Attempting to support yourself, let alone a family, on anything less is futile and ridiculous.

if it gets raised we will all pay the price and it's minimum wage cause it wasn't meant for people to stay there it's fit starting out so no it shouldn't be are you going to give me a raise I make 29.94 so if they get one do I cause when the raised it before I didn't see anything but everything around us going up

Exactly! I need a raise also. Our starting wage in our building is 9. 50 so the contract we just fought for is below min wage. Doh!

What was the price we paid all the other times it was raised? They make more money, they can buy more things. Make sure you tell us specifically what price we paid and be able to prove it.

Most of the countries who don't pay their employees much are the poorest countries and the ones that pay them the best are the wealthiest ones.

We should have kept it at $1.60 like it was when I was a kid and we'd have all been rich, huh Milton Freidman (isn't that what mofo stands for?)?

If you want a raise get some education. Don't expect the government to work it out for you. A person with a college degree earns on average over a million more dollars over the span of their career than a person with high school level education.

I feel for people making minimum wage but the problem is that when the minimum wage is raised, almost all the prices go up. It's just not the answer, sorry.

If you are unemployed and get 0 with a college education the what is the difference in making 0 with a high school education. Ask Obama??

Here's an idea. Everyone who has a job with healthcare and making $10 an hour is subject to random drug tests. If u wanna make the cash u gotta pay the price of living a drug free life.

I went to Kollege an now I'm retired. High school graduates are McDonalds employees and about to get $10,10 an hour while Kollege graduates are un-employed drawing a good welfare salary with free phones and get their EBT cards.

I take drug tests for my job. I get paid to be drug free and clean shaven. Keep paying me well and I'll be a good productive member of the workforce.

I used to believe that and agree with it, but no longer, not in these current times and economy. Spending money is what drives the economy and if you don't have an expendable income, let alone enough money to "spend" in the first place, then the money ain't circulatin'.

This is 2014. The min wage should have increased at a faster rate over the past few decades.

P.S. I do agree with your screen name though, Louda does suck. ; )

Raising the min. wage is likely a political move for votes. The truth gets totally ignored by the media. They love the drama of talking heads arguing over min. wage, and of course Obamacare, costing jobs. But that is a small issue compared to the hundreds of thousands of jobs lost due to corporations investing in Mexico, China, etc. car companies, aerospace, tech, all are building more plants in Mexico, where labor is cheap and shipping cost is low,and we are losing those jobs forever. You may think that's old news but it's just getting started. in about 10 years, the U.S. will fall behind Mexico. No U.S. president or congress is willing to stand up to the corporations, so the jobs keep leaving, never to return. Opportunities here are fast food, or drugs. And if the minimum wages stays low enough, then just drugs.

Good point there, equal, and we can thank ol' slick willy and his sidekick crazy Al for NAFTA and the resulting mass exodus of good paying (manufacturing) jobs to those south of the border, China, and beyond.

However, payback is forthcoming - that is why there is no shame when the likes of a China bail us out (i.e. banking industry, mortgages, etc.) They OWE us - since they took our jobs.

i think you make a good point, but, the price setting smells funny to me. Car companies, for example, complained that american workers' benefits and wages were too high, so they killed that. now, decades of cutting heads, building cars with cheap imported parts, and moving plants out of the country, but are cars cheaper, now that they cost way less to make?? Hell, no. a big truck is 50 grand and executives still make 20 mil a year while they cry about healthcare and the minimum wage for the people who actually build the cars.

There are no jobs because they are going overseas. That's not Obama's fault. But, talk radio and TV hosts are paid to distract you from reality. That's why they won't talk about anything but Obama Obama Obama, while we all circle the drain.
