I went to Prestera in Charleston and my therapist actually told a mutual acquaintance what I said to her.
I thought that stuff was supposed to be confidential.
Oh, and that building was disgusting and the people who worked there didn't even look professional.
Has anyone else had any problems with this company?

They suck, didn't accomplish any of their goals as far as I'm concerned, and then sent me a huge bill after they told me my insurance would cover almost all of it. Insurance did cover a lot of the visits towards the second month I went there, but all of my first visits were full charges. Over $300 to go listen to people required by their PO's to be there who come in drunk and stoned. It did not make me want to quit drinking/smoking when everyone there is telling you they can get or are on it currently. I want to see if there is any way I can get out of paying them for this disservice. PRESTERA = JOKE. Very unclean, unprofessional, and unsuccessful.

Report the therapist to the WV Board of Medicine. The therapist clearly did not follow the Health Information Privacy Protection Act.

Prestera is a Joke, this company is so full of people who always have to answer to someone else for every little thing in fear of losing their barely above minimum wage job. I could make more working at go-mart.

definitely a joke. They are the only mental health facility around really who accepts medicaid, they push patients in and out every 5 minutes without really knowing a diagnosis-push what the drug rep of the week is bringing in.

They pay minimum wage and get some idiots in their working with people who have disabilities/mental health disorders. They need to get people more empathetic and give them more education on mental illness. OR EXPERIENCE in the field, even if it is another min wage job!

I worked for Prestera and they treat their employees like trash. I've seen so many good managers get fired for BS reasons so they can pay someone else lower wages.
I saw so many clients get mistreated that when I brought it up my schedule was cut and hrs were less and less.
I just walked out one night.
The ONLY people who work there, and care, are the ones who sit in offices all day.
Bob Hanson is a joke, Stephanie, Genise, Beth- none of them care. Oh and why do the corporate fat cats all drive Mercedes, Jaguars, etc. the actual workers have problems paying for gas to get to work.

mental health and poverty most often go hand in hand. prestera is helping further this epidemic.

rather than helping ppl get treatment and better their lives!

How can a "non-profit" organization have a CEO, COO, 2 CFOs, 3 directors of addiction services an HR Director and "Pulic Relations Development Director"
All of which get paid between 75,000-130,000.00 a year where as they start paying people at 7.75 an hr?
Would you want YOUR loved ones in the care of someone making less than a worker at McDonalds?

If you have insurance why would you go to a low income facility? If you are low income & need mental help then it is what it is. If you want higher quality care then pay for it or change the system :-) the person who repeated what you said is obviously extremely unprofessional report them.

As a former worker of Prestera the OP stating that the therapist talked about her case isn't shocking at all.
I've heard therapists discussing their clientele like people having water cooler discussions.
Again though- what does one expect?
Prestera is the largest mental health group in the state and the MA/MS/LSWs make approx 23g a year.
Some guy told me that there was once a woman who was the ONLY PhD in the company and she didn't make 40 a year.
The site managers are called 'Team Leaders' and my team leader told me she made 20g a year.
She didn't even have a BA. She was in the military. They hired her because they wanted someone to be fiscally responsible.
Not someone to care for addicts, not someone who understands addicts or is even schooled in Psych or Soc, but someone who's fiscally responsible.
And to answer PsychStar- people go there because Prestera takes Medicaid/Medicare. 40.00 an hr is what they charge for each person who sits in a 20 person group.

This company is far beyond a joke. I can vouch for EVERYTHING "Robert" is saying. They do not give any worry for their employees or their clients. They only want to save that dollar and pull in that extra dollar. They would rather take a facility which has great success and and try to change things over pocket change than let it go the way it is going. It isn't about helping anyone to them anymore, it is about the $.

the ceo buddies up with the supervisors on his good list . if u catch my drift. thats why good employees get lost and team leaders are underqualifed...patients at loss !.

not everyone can CHANGE THE SYSTEM lol. maybe we could do some lobbying but hope is doubtful. dont shrug it off as "it is what it is". mental health is a big deal and wv has the highest suicide rates.

some of them really care for the clients, but most of them are just there for a paycheck and have no behavioral health background at time. This should be required!!

so just because someone has had an addiction problem, depression, or something means they cannot give to others and take light of their past and help others with the same problem? So what if they were a patient before if they are functioning and want to help others

I agree. The patients are talked down to. just because they have mental illness does not make the BRS or team leads superior to them. prestera serves a lot of homeless mental health consumers and its sad that their service is so bad.
