I was just browsing through and saw your message. It is nice seeing a positive comment. Personally I am a single mother of two children. Work a full time job, pay my taxes and for myself and my children to have medical insurance. This year has been especially difficult and it has been stressful with the season approaching realizing financially it is a difficult time. Your comment was positive and lifting. I'd like to say thank you for that! Happy Holidays to you.
oh your so welcome sis happy holidays to you and family,

Wondering if there was any help out there somewhere for single mothers that does not receive state assistance?!?!? Heard that maybe some churches or town communities may help with this. I don't know where to begin! I am a single mother of 5 children and hold a 40 hr/wk job please no negative comments! Looking for some help!
I am a single mother of 2 and one Christmas was experiencing some hardship so signed up for secret Santa. I almost didn't make it outside because I was so overwhelmed by emotion at how much detail went into my children's gifts. Even down to the handmade stockings. Only used it the one year that I truly needed it. I hope this helps & hope you get the assistance you need. Salvation Army also has the angel tree & they help with food. Good luck and happy holidays and may God bless you and your family.

Winky dinky, you were a poor little turd when you were a child, so why do you want to talk trash now about someone asking help for the poor?

I can't believe how rude people can be. She's looking for helping and your bashing her. Condoms and birth control doesn't always work. Maybe it was her choice to have five kids. What if some are sets of twins. You never know. Stop being rude and give her suggestions.

I am a conservative, republican and I believe in hard work to get where you are. With that being said, it is not the fault of the children here. When you want to bash people, call them freeloaders etc, you may be right on the money but I make enough money that if someone is willing to plea for help for her kids... I don't spend a second judging the mother but thinking about how can I bless those kids and my own soul by being the kind of person God and his men founded this country on. So, to whomever needed help, please email me plumpeachy at live dot com would be happy to help you. This country is going to hell and its not just the free loaders and democrats doing it... it is us said morally sound people who have hardened our hearts to all based on a few.

And, I am a Democrat who has rarely met a Republican I could stand, but you are definitely the exception. God bless you for doing what's right. I have used the exact words you use in much of your post before and you are brave and have the right priorities. If not for the grace of God, any of us could have been born or raised in situations that are hard to get out of. Or, we could have been born with fewer abilities that would allow us to easily get out of these situations or know how to get out of them. I wouldn't want to face God on judgment day with the hard hearts that many people have. Big Kudos to you, Kay.

You people can sit here all day long and talk about the rare occasion someone falls on hard times. We all know how this works, though. 9 1/2 times out of 10, people have multiple kids because they can either get more gov't assistance, or because they were simply not willing to look ahead and plan for a future. You call me a heartless bstrd, but these people have multiple kids growing up begging for gov't handouts. Sounds to me like these irresponsible parents are the heartless ones. Just look at statistics these days. More and more "parents" are having children without intentions of raising them. Pawn them off on the grandparents and pocket the welfare money to pay for new tattoos. We all know idiots like this.
If you had 5 children and don't make a huge income with a large nest egg, then you are a) an idiot or b) a freeloader.
I would bet money that the op has tattoos, cigarettes, iPhone, cable, professionally-done nails (or at least 3 of those).

And I bet you came from a rather large family who fell on hard times and through no fault of your parents had to ca'' upon our Gov. for assistance. Not saying this to be mean, but not every one are having children for the purpose as you stated.

You are certainly correct that there are plenty of people like this. And, it is frustrating. The only thing I would disagree with is that it's 9.5 out of ten. I used to run a non profit and although I would agree that the number that abuse the system may be over 50 percent, it's not 95%. And, unfortunately, those who legitimately need help aren't focused on. It's the cheaters that are. I just hate that those who are already at the bottom rungs of society, but who are trying, get lumped in with the cheaters, because the stigma of being on public assistance is difficult enough on them without having this extra burden inflicted on them. Although, you and I probably disagree on some things, at least you stated your position a lot more intelligently and maturely than most do who share your beliefs. Kudos to you for that.

I hope that she gets the help she needs. No one knows what is going on in her life. All she asked was ask for information. It hurts my heart for some people to judge her with their rude statements. I myself at one time needed help. And I was thankful for the help I got for my 2 children. So if you have something to say just to bash someone.... I will pray for you as well as the mother that is asking for help.

Good point. I know of a former welfare recipient who put herself through college and now runs a non profit helping people that used to be in her same situation. No one would know the true plight of welfare recipients like her and instead of having the attitude that they are all lazy bums, she chose to work helping people who are on welfare. Wonder why she would do that if they are all bums? If not for God's grace, we could all be in their situation.

You all are overlooking the fact that she had FIVE CHILDREN! How was she planning on feeding them? Supplying medical care? Education? Clothing?

I'll tell you. She didn't. She expected the tax payers to do it. And now, what the tax payers are providing isn't enough. Now, we get to buy them Christmas presents too.

I will agree that it's not the children's fault. But that doesn't make it right. She should have thought about this before squeezing out kids on the taxpayer dime.

I would again say that you or I could be in the same situation where generation after generation has been raised and taught to live this way, if it weren't for God's grace of putting where He did on this earth, putting us in the families and situations He did and giving us the drive, intelligence, etc. that He did. We don't know what has gone into making someone who they are and if we knew the stories of some we lump together with the other people we criticize and don't like, we might change our tunes. It is easy to make simple blanket statements. It's harder (and therefore done less often) to look deeper and try to give the benefit of the doubt (like God does to us).

You're still missing the point, bub. I am in this situation because of the choices SHE MADE...along with other taxpayers. What did I do to deserve footing the bill for her poor decisions? I had nothing to do with it. Does she have a roof over their heads? Food on the table? You're welcome. But now that she wants us to foot yet another bill, I'm drawing the line. How about breaking the cycle and teach these kids about personal responsibility. That would be the best Christmas present they ever got. Not going to happen, though. They'll probably have 8 or 9 kids each when they're older.

The money from charities comes from donations, not taxpayers. You're not even discussing the topic at hand, which is someone asking for help for the holidays. You are taking issue with the way she lives her life. That is not what this is about and it is inappropriate for you to criticize. Who are you to tell her what's right and what's wrong? Oh, and one more thing, when you throw in a "She's probably got an iphone, nails professionally done...etc" you're already lost the argument. You can't win an argument on an assumption.
