I just recently heard that was not true and that the state is negotiating to purchase the building and put state offices in there. I don't know which state agency, but I do think the state is taking the building and putting something there.

The roof suffered a great deal of damage when that storm swept through the valley at the end of June, apparently the people running it found it more profitable to call it a loss. I was told they weren't going to open Shoney's back up at that location. It's a damn shame.

More government, less private business. Lets all just give up, go home and collect welfare until we die.

That Shoney's sucked as they all do. Crappy food, crappy prices. Don't know how it was before it closed but 10-15 years ago lots of employees there were on some BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD stuff. Maybe they cleaned it up or maybe they did not but I would never go back after finding out and in case you're wondering my now dead cousin dealt it to them so that's how I would know. Smack.

It was a franchise operation. Taken over from corporate in August 2005 with a 20 year contract. The store wasn't profiting. In all it was grossing a negative 3000 a month. When the roof was torn off the franchise owner broke contract and took it as a loss. In the end it was the best option. It will not be reopened by the same franchisee. Could be by another private owner bit if the state is after it they will probably get it.

It would be a fantastic location for a strip club if those tight ass Kanawha City residents would allow it. Plenty of parking and great access to and from the interstate.

Why did the St. Albans Shoney's close?

For the same reason that over 300 Shoney's closed: When Shoney's went corporate, that the start of the downfall. It took 20 years but one by one, they are history. Bad food, too many experiments with food, and too many failures all way around. I'm surprised that these local Shoney's have lasted this long. It may take another 20 years, but Bob Evans is going down the same road.

The end process of business is Bankruptcy. This is a common end product, the Dow had the 30 largest businesses in the 1930's, only one is left, GE. Republicans want to run our Government like a business. G W Bush said he was going to run the U.S. Government like a business. That's right, his end result was Bankruptcy.
