Why in the world are there not police assigned to patrol, on foot, in the transit mall? Hope the man who was beaten last night does okay!

It is very unfortunate that the young man got beat like that with so many standing around and just watching. Maybe I'm not built "for that life", but I certainly have respect for all human life. Had I been there, I would have intervened in some kind of way--and I would have told the police if I knew the parties involved. Call me a snitch if you want, but had that been you or your loved one what would you do? I don't know what sparked the incident, but I do know that a young man is clinging to life and that nothing he could have said or done would be worth me jeopardizing my own freedom.
Whoever was bold enough (and I mean that sarcastically) to beat him like that should also be bold enough to stand up and turn themselves in to the authorities and face the consequences. Prayers for that young man and his family...and shame on those that did that (even had the nerve to go through his pockets while he was undconscious--smh) and more shame on the ones that stood around and did nothing!
That is all---have a nice day!

This poor guy is probably going to die.

To the selfish losers who just stood by & watched...or took a video with their phone instead of calling 911, I hope they NEVER sleep again.

how could any decent human being stand by & just watch someone be beaten to death!?!

I'm disgusted by the lack of humanity shown in this incident.

I hope Karma deals a hefty blow to everyone who watched this happened & did nothing to help.

The cops were just over from the beating harassing some dude for having an open container. As soon as they were done with that they broke the fight up.

I didn't see any fight. Just the same thug wannabe's that hang around just to find someone to beat and rob.

it's not a "fight" when it's 2 (or more) against one, and they continue to beat the guy once he's lost consciousness.

I pay my two dollars a week- maybe old Danny can take it and get a better video camera installed at that site- the video was crap! Or maybe hire one of those food carts that sells doughnuts to sit at thw transit, that would guarantee a police presence!

indeed - I am a woman and I would have screamed or tried to find something heavy to hit one of the abusers with - I would have gotten their attention away from the victim - even knowing they maybe would turn on an old, disabled woman as I am.

I an remember 50 years (YES 50 years ago) when Summers street held the greyhound bus station, the Brass Rail, etc.- hookers boldly walked the streets too. A few years ahead I was with a boyfriend in that area and about five guys was stomping a victim who was down - when without thinking I ran over and shoved on the abusers and screamed bloody murder - and it stunned them so bad they STOPPED - now they did stare at me in confusion - and my boyfriend ran over to pull me away but I would not go until they dispersed. He was all shook up that I could have gotten us both hurt.

I'm going into my job close to Morris Street (another bad area - so bad Krogers closed down) and a man lying across steps with blood pouring from his head and COWORKERS stepping over him without comment - of couse I got down and checked to see if he was alive and he was and I fussed until someone agreed to call 911 and waited there until the ambulance came.

It startled me at ages 18 - 30 to see so many people insenstive to a human's pain and IT SHOCKS ME MORE EVEN NOW.- Was standing on a street smoking a cig - close to my workplace and looked up and an very old lady came out of a dress shop - and looked across the street where her older hubby waited for her - then - WAIT - I saw two men - one on one side of the store entrace several feet and one on the other several feet and they nodded to each other!!! In a second I hooked my arm through the lady's shocking her - and said "I will help you across the street" - I took her to the car and even opened the door for her to get in.. The men - they went on their way.

Now I know there was good endings to those stories - but I was stronger and young enough to run then - now I'd definitely get hurt doing "something" other than walk away - but I do believe I'd still do "something"....

Guess I'm one of those "old school rednecks" born and raised with an outside toilet and raised to say thank you - you are welcome - yes mamm - yes sir, and the like and to help others in need though we were so poor. Never was there a time that my family went anyplace whether walking or in an old clunker of a car, that my father didn't stop to help someone change a tire - or push their car off the road if broke down - or even picked up strangers to give them a ride - so - I know many of the older folks in my community were raised the same way and are HORRIFIED at how the younger - abuse the elderly insead of "helping them". As in most communities - same thing... Sad thing is so many ederly and weak still so trusting of strangers or people they hardly know. I'm ranting - sorry

Where did you go to school with him? Is he from Charleston? This whole thing makes me sick, should be something we could do for him and his family to show them the entire population of Charleston isn't as shitty as the ones at the transit mall.

Nice.... hitting a guy in the head with a brick from behind! Real bad @ss there.... NOT!

I hope one of the POS who just taped the attack on their cell phone and not calling 911 gets a conscience and turns their video over... probably better quality since they stood within mere feet!

I also hope that the coward trash involved are arrested and all bystanders getting their eyes full without calling 911 are cited as well... maybe not rendering aid or something!

People are f*cking morons anymore! No wonder more and more citizens are obtaining their concealed weapon permits.... you have to protect yourself because NO ONE is going to do it for you!(No one will call 911 because their all too busy watching like it's some reality show.) Obviously!
