I am trying to find the pay for hospitals in different areas as I will be graduating soon with my ADN-RN... Can anyone tell me around how much your start out making at CAMC with no experience? Also, do they still help pay for accomidations if you travel there to work several days a week?

regardless of their pay they need to be given a raise then maybe the cheap asses will tip...nurses are the worst tippers...

dont judge a few nurses or anyone for that matter by some that didnt tip... I happen to realize that we are all out there trying to make a living and I tip well

camc nurses are the worst paid nurses. They expect the most and pay the least, while the "big boys" pat each other on the back and give themselves bonuses. Yes thats where your health care dollars are going, to the big wigs giving each other thousands of dollars in bonuses and dinners out, cars, etc. Its another Enron

CAMC's website says they start new grads at $18.50/hour. Thomas starts there new grads off at about $20. I don't know about CAMC but Thomas does pay if you travel and have to stay in a hotel to work. They do travel compensation and then pay for your hotel. But if you're just traveling from somewhere like Boone or Logan, that doesn't count. Hope this helps

They really, really are! One time when I went to camc they gave me a bag of change and some crumpled up bills for me to go through and they shorted me and got angry when I asked for the rest of the money!

Another time they ordered around 50 pizzas and didn't even give me a tip and were extremely rude.

They never tip me and I'm the best delivery woman we have! I'm always super nice but they just don't care.

CAMC just cut the pay for per diem nurses by $15k a year! Took out all of the snacks and coffee we usually give to patients and families. This past Christmas bonus consisted of two $6 meal tickets. But the exec bonuses were in the six-figure range. They keep saying how much money they're losing but then they also bought all of the hospitalist staff docs n PA's n FNP's new iPads! When I find a new job, I plan on blowing the lid off that joint.

Blow on sister, they won't give a damn. They've been doing that crap for years and years. The rich get richer and the nurses get the shaft. Then patient care suffers and suddenly someone from administration is on your floor making rounds and telling you what a bad job you're doing. Why isn't patient satisfaction higher? You really want to know why? Ok, first, hire an attendant for each unit to help get the patients up. 2nd, hire AT LEAST 2 nursing assistants Per shift to help with baths, lights, etc. and then let them actually change the
linens! 3rd, do away with the stupid Medicus. It does nothing except tell you how FEW staff members you should be able to use. And no, I don't think I'm too good to help with bedpans, bed baths and call light, I've been doing it 30 years! Now I'm just too damned busy to do that plus Keep up with all the charting we have to do to keep the attorneys satisfied.
In closing may I suggest St
Mary's or Cabell Huntington, their pay and
benefits are much better. I'm sure they aren't perfect either but they seem to value their nurses, unlike CAMC who has done nothing but take from the nurses while adding more
responsibilites.

They do not pay for accommodations if you travel. The CAMC motel rooms cost about $40, some nurses share a room to cut that cost.
CAMC is the place to go to learn, the pay is way to low. It's a shame they will pay out so much to train new grads, but won't pay to keep them. Hope this helps.

The CAMC hotel is a place for people to have affairs and it only costs them 40 a night. I know this because it happened to me and everyone knows who stays there and what goes on. They cover for eachother.

Wow, I am applying online at CAMC and came across the how much do you want to make box. So I googled what nurses make at CAMC and this came up. WOW! I think I will try down my way. That sounds like a bunch of crap. St. Mary's takes care of its nurses. Got to love those nuns!

17.50/hr is what new grad RNs started ou at in 1999. i know because my sister's first job out ofcollege was there. so, you mean to tell me theyve gotten a buck in 13 years? that blows. shame on CAMC.
they should totally unionize. but i imagine the mere mention ofthe U-word would get any nurse blacklisted, if the admin there is as bad as it was a decade ago.

Maybe if nurses took a little more pride in their jobs these days, the pay would be better. 90% of the nurse only become nurses because they think they can hook up with a rich doctor and so they can wear Looney Tunes scrubs. When I am visiting a hosptal, I can't tell a nurse from a janitor....they all dress the same. I have NO respect for nurses, especially the ones at CAMC.
