Hey Dipspit yes it was owned by Germans for almost a decade...maybe they saw how messed up things could get and they got out of it.
Name fits. It is not owned by Germans now. The company was taken over by American
Water Company and has been since 2008.....This is 2014 is case you ever wake up.

If the simple minded idiots had not bought into "Friends of Coal Barons" propaganda about the EPA this may have never happened. Instead we have next to no sensible environmental regulation in WV because Don Blankenship convinced half the population the EPA was some boogeyman.

The EPA is the only entity who gives two craps about your water being safe and air breathable. I promise you the owners of the coal mines and their associated companies (like Freedom Enterprises who just stores chemicals to process & wash coal) who don't even live in WV, could care less if the people of WV drink poison or if their miners get buried alive underground, they only care that their bank balance keeps growing.

Even the names "Freedom Enterprises" (or Patriot Coal) is only to pander to morons who think if it's painted red, white & blue and sounds patriotic it must be good.

These companies are having a big laugh at the hillbillies that defend them while they poison your environment and reap billions in profits for handing out a few token jobs that pay half decent wages - when they feel like it and make sure WV grovel to thank them for it. Pathetic.

While I'm not into conspiracy theories and cloak and dagger BS, there is a good question here.
Freedom Industries is located less than 1 mile from the WV-American Water filtration plant; less than 1 mile upstream of the plant.
You mean to tell me that at some point WV-American shouldn't have asked the question "I wonder what they've got up there?" It seems to me that, given the storage capacity at Freedom Industries, WV-American would want a close relationship with those folks.
Lots of folks dropped the ball here, lots of blame to go around.
I'm just wondering who donated to whose political campaigns? Lots of years and no inspections, only for the government to descend on this little company. While this bunch of yahoos on the banks of the Elk River deserve what is coming there way, why is government getting a pass in all this? Government is always quick to say "HEY, LOOK OVER THERE!" while they sweep their own crap under a rug.
Democrat run County Commission, Democrat run State and a Democrat controlled Federal Government. Yep, it's all George Bush's fault...him, Chaney, and Halliburton.
