I'd imagine that it probably works the same as priceline, travelocity, and all the rest.
I just got back from staying in Atlantic City about 3 weeks or so ago. Booked the first night by calling the hotel reservation number. Wanted to stay a second night so I went down to the front desk and got a rate. I told them the rate that I saw on priceline.com and asked if they could match it. They said no. I went right up to the business center/computer area and booked the room for the second night. Went and ate breakfast and went down to the front desk and told them I made a new reservation and asked if I could just keep the same room. By then a whole new crew was there. They said no problem.
I've bought plane tickets from sites like this as well as reservations for pre-paid rooms. Alot of times though things are pre-paid and are almost impossible, if not impossible, to get refunded if you can't use them, can't make the flight, etc.
Hope all this helps a smidge.

It does help, thanks. What I did was I got a room off of Hotwire in Tennessee for the Bristol weekend. Got a great deal compared to getting a room near the track and I was wondering how it works cause I have never got anything like that before cause I don't travel much. I did purchase travel insurance for an additional 10 bucks to get a refund if something happens I can't make the reservation.
