Her name was Wirleen. And I am glad they shut them all down. I just wish they would have done it before Lafe Ward Jr. got on the road that day!! Lafe does not deserve to be ALIVE. He ruined so many lives! I hate him!

The original charges & prosecution of this man were not what nearly as sever as they would have been for any of US COMMON FOLK! His was the most severe examples of RECKLESS HOMICIDE a small town is likely to see. However his case was played down as much as possible. For what should have merited at least decade(s)in Prison. Instead , the people who knew & cared for the VICTIM have to protest every couple of years to keep this brazen criminal(influential LAWYER) behind bars & away from our community. Politics as usual in the Tug River Valley. I did not know the victim, but I AM ENCOURAGRD TO SEE so many who still care about this grave injustice who are carrying on.

It didn't help to protest they let this murderer out before it was even time for him to get out! U r right if it was anyone else we would still be in prison. I knew the victim -Wirleen- very well. She was was my best friend and and what he done that day and the sentence he received was a huge injustice! He should be in prison for the rest of his miserable life. I hope he lives in daily hell like I do and the rest of her family and friends.

Lafe was his father. He passed away. You are talking about the wrong man. Get your facts straight!

Please stop going off before knowing the facts. Lafe Ward, Sr. was a fine man. He was instrumental in the development of many things in our area. And, Dee has served his time. No, it doesn't bring Wirleen back, but he helped the other inmates during his time there, being a lawyer, helping with their issues and trying to help where he could. He's a kind man and has to live with this the rest of his life. We all make mistakes..some bigger than others. But, we are all human. We can't turn back time. If we could, he would be first in line.

People have no compassion or mercy. Thank goodness The Lord does or I'd definitely be a goner!

I really do not care what inmates he helped in prison!!! He does not have to live with what he done to me and her family because he was too messed up to remember any of it!! I REMEMBER EVERYTHING AND EVERY DETAIL OF WHAT HE DONE EVERY SECOND OF EVERYDAY INCLUDING THIS COWARDS ACTIONS OF THAT DAY AND HOW MESSED UP HE WAS BECAUSE I WAS THERE WITH HER! I WATCHED HER DIE AND THERE WAS NOT A THING I COULD DO ABOUT IT !! I LIVE WITH THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL PAIN OF WHAT HE DONE THAT DAY NOT HIM!! HE DID NOT EVEN GET HURT!! I WISH HE DID HAVE TO REMEMBER AND LIVE WITH IT EVERY DAY AND RELIVE IT OVER AND OVER LIKE I HAVE TO. HE HAS NEVER HAD ANY REMORSE AND HE DONE THIS BEFORE THAT NIGHT HE JUST KILLED SOMEONE! SO DON'T TELL ME HE IS A KIND MAN! THAT KIND MAN WAS WALKING AROUND THE SCENE WORRYING ABOUT CALLING HIS DAD TO GET OUT OF IT AND THAT KIND MAN TRIED TO RUN!!! SO I HOPE HE IS THE FIRST IN LINE TO HELL!!!
