From the Daily Mail "More than 20 Capital High School seniors are not allowed to participate in tonight's graduation ceremony because they directly defied an order from Principal Clinton Giles.

The order: don't wear a shirt to school that abbreviates the word "Capital" as "Cap" and displays a paw print. The shirt isn't the school's official colors, either.

These symbols do not preserve the "purity, image or integrity" of the school, Giles said, and should therefore not be allowed.

"I'm curious to know how or why what I've done is a terrible thing, seeing as what those students did," Giles said.

There was no school money involved in the project, and no teacher, administrator or official club contributed in any way to the shirts. "

This moronic principal just showed the students we have no RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH. These students were causing no problem, and the principal is acting like a Nazi Gestapo. I say we ALL start wearing these shirts. They are a lot better than some of the "nasty" message shirts I'm seeing all over the place. The principal needs fired for being so narrow-minded. Definitely some POOR ADULT JUDGEMENT going on there.

Clinton Giles is a piece of work always has been even when he was assistant principal 12 years ago. I would even go so far as to call him racist. He was on a power trip when I went there in 2000. I can only imagine what he's like now that he is principal. A girl from my old neighborhood told me that at her orientation he informed her he would be watching her " because he knows how the kids from South Park are"! Pretty sure that's profiling isn't it? He's a jackass plain and simple.

Giles and the school board should be served with a court order allowing them to walk. This is where the board should step up. But Giles can do anything he wants because he carries a special card.

We teach our children to show respect at all times, especially to their educators not disrespect their teachers and principal. Just goes to show you the difference between a school with class and a school without class. It all starts at home which most parents of those HEATHENS at the "CAP" LOL don't know much about.

Now go roll yourself another joint and then try and figure out where you went wrong as a parent.

Goodluck because it'll take you a while.

Actually, I haven't went wrong as a parent neither of my children are of school age and luckily won't be attending school in Kanawha county. It does start at home and I do teach my children better then I was taught. It's called breaking the cycle. And if I do decide to go smoke a joint( which I won't) it's better then snorting a pill or shooting up meth! So figure out something else to insult me about.
You were much ruder to me then I was to you. So I guess I really did get your panties in a wad!!!

This is one of the most moronic things I've ever heard! How can a principal get away with something like this? As long as the shirts aren't going against the KCBOE dress code there should be no way he could legally do this to those kids! Does this mean if they come to school wearing a shirt that displays OHio or NC or VA that they will b made to change or not allowed to go to class bcs it doesn't say WV or have the right colors! Sounds to me the parents of the students there need to be demanding some action!

The principal at Capital is always in the news for his unorthodox behavior. Some like him, most don't. I guess his thinking is there is no such thing as bad publicity. That's all you see nowadays, principal rolls a kid off the school bus, madison middle school principal denies kids lunch, teacher and principal smoke meth in school in Boone County, and how many stories about teachers having sex with students...the good old days are gone. Welcome to the new world.

Clinton Giles is tough- he needs to be to run a big school with so many diverse students. This particular group thought it was too late in the game to be penalized. They were disrespectful and pushed authority, and it pushed back. Now it's time to suffer the consequences of your actions.

If I could change one thing in my entire life, it would be to NEVER allow my child to have attended public schools in Kanawha County. I would have driven hundreds of miles or moved my family to have given my child a better education and to ensure he was treated fairly. I thank God every day that he made it through without harm or even worse. KCS and the leadership is the worst in terms of protecting children and ensuring their rights. If you have a child at entry age, I beg you to choose a private school. Giles only scratches the surface in terms of bad leadership. Please keep your child safe.

You parents of these spoiled rotten kids who have NEVER had to obey rules, will soon find out that your little brats will have a BAD time in real life.

Kids have no "right" to ANYTHING until they become legal adults. And to praise the overturning of the Principals orders is what's wrong with the rotten kids and this country today. No one shows any respect for anyone else.

"Giles would not comment on the nature of his conversation with Duerring. He did say he thought it was disappointing to see students and families who "enjoy privilege" go to a supervisor to complain about a punishment. Because many of the students involved in the situation "enjoy privilege" and do well in school, people are causing a fuss, Giles believes.

"If it would have been a group of students who had been typically low-achieving from typically low socio-economic households, from the inner-city, I'm not so sure they would look at this the same way," Giles said."

What Giles is saying here is that he feels someone's right to appeal is outright wrong. He feels he should be the DICTATOR he wants to be, and no one should question his authority. Well, I have news for this DICK TATER:

Mr. Giles, people feel you overstepped YOUR authority. NOTHING in this shirt downgraded your school. The fact is, you are childishly mad because of your BALD HEAD.

I'm kinda shocked at the fact that there are adults on here saying those "bad ass kids, and those spoiled brats" because they wanted to wear shirts that they happen to come up with a slang name for their school! It's not like they were bad Mouthing the school or writing explicit things on their shirts! I have a daughter who goes to Riverside and I've seen tons of different shirts that the students have made on their own and theyve not been ridiculed for wearing them so y is this so much different. The principle was wrong! There fore he was over ruled! Get over it and stop trying to punish children for doing something that in no way was wrong to begin with!

The board better get a Leash on Giles, he thinks he is above everyone. He is going to cost the tax payers some money defending the board for some of his stunts to prove he is King of Cap. He thinks they can not tell him how to run the school.
