did beach patrol ever show up Sunday - with watercraft?

A distraught woman called on Sunday when her older dog swam out to greet some dolphins....and then KEPT swimming from about station 20 clear to the channel. His demise seemed inevitable....we could not watch.
Two SI suvs finally showed up but with no apparent watercraft.....would they have brought a jetski if she'd told them it was her kid?
What is protocol?

It's just a damned dog, for God's sake. It should have been leashed. I am glad someone did not risk life and limb over a stupid loose canine.

Wow. Nice, Joe. I believe the dog began his swim before noon....when the leash law is enforced for the remainder of the day on Sullivan's island. You must be a cat lover.
Anyway, I'll research through a better site to see what protocol is when any human swimmer gets into trouble in the water offseason when no lifeguards are on duty.
