Area renters lament rising rental rates in Charleston region
The 10 metro areas where rents sought by landlords increased at the fastest rates from June 2013-June 2014: Mount Pleasant renters and soon-to-be parents Adam and Hannah Erickson decided to shop around for a new apartment when they learned their annual lease renewal included another rate increase.

$850 to $1000 a month for a run down apartment or townhouse with a 20 year old refrigerator and stove, 1970s heat pump, etc. is insane.
Its not demand driving rental cost up. It's GREED.
Charleston will choke itself to death in due time.

It has no charm. Its all built up into something it is not. Anyone visiting will learn Charleston is a dangerous place. It is not safe there. Northerners are running it over. Greed runs wild.
A house in Greeneville and on the same size lot - same house in Charleston - 300% more. Demand my back side. Greed is all it is.
Yeah. Buy a house in Charleston for 250,000. I can get the same exactly house elsewhere in a nice neighborhood for less than half of that.
You like being taken for? Buy or rent in the Charleston area. Charleston is not much of anything anymore. How about those 13 an hour jobs at Boeing??? HAHAHAHAHAA!!!...... Cheap wages. Very cheap indeed. HAHAAHAHAHA.
