Services set today for former state executioner
No one knew more about operating a gas chamber than Donald Hocutt. The former Mississippi state executioner and longtime Greenwood resident learned from mixing the lethal chemicals together for four executions from 1983 to 1989.

God Bless Donny Hocutt. I spoke with him on several occasions after the book "the last face you'll ever see" came out. Couldnt ask for a nicer more polite Southern Gentleman. He will be missed. My condolences to the family and he WILL be remembered.

God Bless Donny Hocutt??
Are you freaking kidding me? He made a living by killing people! He was a damn 'hit man' for the state! Hocutt said he had no regrets about the executions he was involved with, and that earns him a place in hell near the 4 he killed imo.
His heart stopped at 55 years old? hmm. Wonder why? It's ok, God will take care of him.

Your talking about a man that you've never met. The guys on death row got exactly what they deserve . Yes I had a friend on death row. Mr Hocutt was 1 of the most genuine, kind hearted people I ever met. So before you post something about someone, know the facts and people you are talking about you low life piece of shit. People like you are why the world we live in is so screwed up.

Yes GOD BLESS Mr Hocutt. Like the other poster said YOU didnt know him. I had the honor of working with the man. He never had a hand in pulling the lever on the gas chamber. That was reserved for someone else who I wont name. All of us working a gassing had an integral part in "killing" someone. You also have to remember a JURY decided that the person in the gas chamber did something so horrible that it WARRANTED his death. With one exception (Edward Johnson) the rest deserved the punishment for the crime they did. Mr Hocutt was the most professional and polite person you would ever want to meet. If you didnt know him you would never know what he did for a living. So tell me in YOUR opinion what WOULD be appropriate punishment for a man that sodomized a 3 year old girl, stuffed her panties down her throat tossed her in to a ditch then stomped the back of her neck killing her? What do YOU think would be fair punishment for someone like THAT? Pehaps you may want to re think your reply and show a modicum of respect for the family of Mr Hocutt as Im sure they are suffering a loss. And by the way the crime I described was that of Jimmy Lee Gray who was the FIRST execution I participated in as well as Mr Hocutt. After all said and done and Gray was taken out of the chamber,Mr Hocutt took it as hard as the rest of us . So where you are going with your description of Don and his job is as far off base as you can get.
