My husband and I are moving to Charles Town and looking for a great neighborhood to plant our roots. We are almost 30yr old with a 10 month old, and two Boxer dogs, so a safe and family friendly area is a must.

We have looked at several homes in the Locust Hill community and it seems to be what we are looking for. However being new to the area, we know nothing about it and have not found anything about that community. So, share your thoughts and opinions. Good and bad. The schools, HOA, safety, etc.

Thank you all very much.

Hi, I've lived in Locust Hill for 8 yrs and really like it here. We moved from VA and this is a great spot, only 20-30 minutes to every major town. We had one concern about moving up here and it was the schools. We have a daughter and wanted a good education for her and the school aren't the best. Needless to say, we have had her in private school since pre-K and now she is in 5th. The private schools have been awesome. As far as the Locust Hill community it is great, safe and a good place for your kids & dogs. Most of the people here are transplants from VA & MD.We do not have a playground or a pool. but there are many in the area you can drive too. The HOA is only $38 a month. but a lot of people don't pay it and they have trouble recovering the dues. The board is another story, we feel they are on a "need to know" basis and a lot of people are fed up with them. One other thing, there are no sidewalks so, you have to walk or bike on the streets. The golf paths are fine at night, but the LHGC frowns on the use of their private paths. All in all we like living here, it's very clean and the lakes offer a lot of beauty and wild life! Turtles come up lay eggs in the dirt, herons proudly fish and the geese always visit our yards. Wild and Wonderful

Thank you so much for your thorough reply. This is the kind of feedback I was looking for. People who know --the inside scoop for lack of better terms.:)
Sounds like any typical place --you have your ups and downs. I will definitely keep all of this in mind a we move closer to the decision of buying in Locust Hill. Thanks again!!
