We never let our kid ride those rides at the fair. Too dangerous!

Very glad to know the girls were not hurt. It is NOT true that the ride was shut down until further notice, though; I was at this festival last nite. I didn't see the accident or any ambulances. I arrived at right about 9:00 pm and this ride WAS RUNNING ALL NIGHT long, like nothing even happened! I remember joking with my 9 year old daughter, trying to get her to ride on it.

I was there last year when a mishap on the round up occurred and a little 9 year old could have been critically hurt or killed had it not for 2 teenager who grabbed the little guys hand. Its the ride where you stand up and as it was spinning the boys belt came off. My daughter will no longer get on rides and the operators ( most of them not all) are busy smoking and talking to the ladies and are not paying ATTENTION. seems like they are the last to see. What the heck is going on. Maybe we should but operators and inspectors on the rides first make them all ride each one a few times and see how safe they become.

my last comment about the boy on the round up last year, i forgot to mention was screaming, suspended in air and a parent had to practically attack the operator cause he did not notice.

I was there last night with my son, husband, niece, and nephew and my niece asked me if she could ride the Skydiver and I told her no that it was not a good idea..Boy I am glad that I didn't let her ride that ride. I have always been told that put up rides are always the most dangerous to ride because I think that these rides are really not safe to ride because they are put up and taken down all the time..I think that these rides should not be allowed to be ridden until they are completely inspected and making sure that there are nothing wrong with these rides and if they are they need to be fixed in cases like this..My heart goes out to this family and hoping that everything is alright.

Why do parents insist on taking their kids to amusement parks. Folks, those places are very dangerous for children. I have no problem with kids staying home and playing video games on their computer. At least they're safe.

There's another reason not to go to amusement parks. Weird guys like Way Out Willie. His kind like to hang out there. Folks keep your kids at home, safe and sound.

I never let my daughter ride at local fairs. It isn't the safety of the ride, but usually the operator. I was at the Lake County fair and saw a girl fall out of the kiddie ferris wheel because she wasn't put in properly.

We were at the fair today and did see the ride going, but only one time with two riders in one of the cars. I am so glad that these two girls were not more seriously injured, or worse!

Wow...scary! When I was 15, my best friend and I were on the Corkscrew at Cedar Point. Turns out as we are headed up the hill, a girl in front of us was acting a little frantic....my best friend noticed that they hadn't put the bar down over her, that she was actually sitting against it. This girl's friend and my best friend were all trying to hold on to her. Thank God that someone on the ground noticed this and the ride came to a stop just before getting to the top of the hill. That was so scary. About 13 years ago, my nephew was getting on the bumper car rides at the Medina Fair...as he got in, there was a sharp piece that had been covered and wrapped in duct tape that had come away - when he raised his knee after getting in, the piece of sharp metal made a huge gash into the side of his knee. He was taken to the hospital and received many stitches. Of course, the ride attendant tried to say that he was running but fortunately, the mayor's wife had been standing there and had seen the whole thing and said that he hadn't been running at all. They ending up settling their suit out of court for negligence. Always have thought fair rides were scary...I am so glad this story didn't end more tragically.

"[The ride operator] didn't even close ours. We were screaming 'wait,''stop,' but I guess he didn't hear us. He didn't close ours," Siobhan says.

The ride isn't unsafe the operator was.... he never closed the door.

Partially agree, Amusment Parks such a Cedar Point have a good reputation. It is the traveling ride companies and the infamous "Carnies" you need to worry about. Video games are OK but they could get outside and play too.

A carnie ride operator tried to hit on me at a church fair when I was 13. So needless to say, none of these rides for my child. They are assembled and taken down too often and ran by people who probably struggle to read at a 3rd grade level.

Operator of this ride should be held accountable. You look at some of these people at fairs and wonder what barrel they were drug out of.

People get carried away. It was all the operator, nothing to do with the ride.
