How to commit cultural suicide.

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200807/memphis...
"...Instead of the occasional break-in, Barnes was getting calls about armed robberies, gunshots in the hallways, drug dealers roughing up their neighbors. A gang war ripped through the neighborhood.“We thought, What the hell is going on here?” A gang war! In North Memphis!“All of a sudden it was a damn war zone,” he said.
As we drove around his beat, this new suburban warfare was not so easy to make out. We passed by the city zoo and Rhodes College, a serene-looking campus on a hill. We passed by plenty of quiet streets lined with ranch houses, not fancy but not falling down, either. Then Barnes began to narrate, street by street, getting more animated and bitter by the block.
Here was the perfectly pleasant-looking Maplewood Avenue, where the old azaleas were just starting to bloom and the local cops were trying to weed out the Chicago drug connection. Farther down the avenue, two households flew American flags, and a third was known for manufacturing “cheese,” a particularly potent form of powdered heroin. The Hollywood branch of the local library, long famous for its children’s room, was now also renowned for the time thugs stole $1,800 there from a Girl Scout who’d been collecting cookie funds…. Janikowski merged his computer map of crime patterns with Betts’s map of Section8 rentals. Where Janikowski saw a bunny rabbit, Betts saw a sideways horseshoe (“He has a better imagination,” she said). Otherwise, the match was near-perfect. On the merged map, dense violent-crime areas are shaded dark blue, and Section8 addresses are represented by little red dots. All of the dark-blue areas are covered in little red dots, like bursts of gunfire. The rest of the city has almost no dots."

Will this help Westchester residents to see the democrats and their liberal judges for what they are? They aren't about freedom, they are all about control and corruption. You spend all that money to live there and the government is sticking a big ghetto right in your backyard. Wait until those arrogant loud blacks destroy your schools. Oh... I guess we all need to look within ourselves.

There is some of that good old Orwellian double-speak. You must be a Madison Ave spin master, or a graduate of the Rove Telling Lies Like They're the Truth correspondence course. LMFAO!

How is this legal to gear housing toward one race and leave out the other?

If we geared housing toward whites there would be an outcry!

Orwellian double speak is when the dems say they are the party for social reform and preserving our freedoms and then pass laws upon laws to restrict everything we do.

THAT'S double speak. Actually, it's just plain lies.

I hope you are pretending to be stupid. If not you are just demonstrating that you are a Neanderthal that has no clue about American History. Can you actually read? How can you even propose such a dumb assertion.

Where have you been? The reason this happened is because housing in those communities has already been geared towards nonminorities.

The better question is where are the towns going to get the land? Its not like there is vacant real estate waiting to be bought by the towns. More likely they will phase it in by offering incentives to future private developers.

BTW, since most of you posters are not from this area, you should know that property is prohibitively expensive in many of these communities for anyone other than the super wealthy. Affordable housing is lacking in general, not just for minorities.

Fair is fair...why not turn the entire area into a "super $hit hole"; damn nasty white well kept estates. Who do they think they are. We'll have no more of that. Suburbs should look like inner cities...we's workin' on it; fair is fair.

YESSS didnt bother to even read the article. In the article it states that the housing will be legally available to everyone, however they will advertise the availability in the urban areas.

The amount of units required is almost inconsequential anyhow.

It sounds like the Government is double-crossing the hard working people who scraped up enough money to buy on their own in White Plains. This is why you have to buy in an affluent Republican dominated town---or don't buy at all.

Greenwich still seems like a fairly safe bet and I understand the power has been shifting from the GOP to the Dems. Back in our day - it was totally run by Republicans.

Gee do you think they are going to put this Section 8 housing in Bedford next to Martha Strewart's or George Soros estate?

Maybe, Bernie Madoff's wife needs a place. She'd fit right in with those two criminals!

Agree. Back in the day it was heavily Republican. It still is a safe bet because when they talk about building affordable housing in Greenwich, it's usually just 5-10 units, nothing crazy like this thing in White Plains.

I know it will be available to everyone which is why I said how can they GEAR it toward a minority legally.

Again, if whites did that, there would be an outcry.

That was a well thought out argument truly supporting your points. Thank you for such engaging conversation.
