Home heavily damaged by fire; wife hurt
MOUNT PLEASANT - The unusual noises in the otherwise quiet Chappaqua Road neighborhood that sits hard against the New Castle border are what caught Doris Downes' attention yesterday afternoon, just as a fire broke out in her neighbor's home.

That is a frightening story. I hope the family is able to rebuild and move forward with their lives. Chappaqua Road is my favorite bike routes- it's so quiet and scenic, you would never expect anything bad to happen. Blessings to all.

Just glad no one was hurt or worse. Good to have nice neighbors watching over each other in these times.

Best of luck to the family - sorry to hear about the birds, very very sad - it takes hard work to live like that but it could have been ALOT worse. That road IS very pretty and tranquil - a walkers destination because there is not any traffic and it is peaceful. Too bad but look ahead to better days.

I just saw this house. It doesn't look like it was damaged on the outside. The property is beautiful and think that they will be back to live in their home very soon. Peace to the residents!
