Just thought I would stop by a see what the Chapmanville tigers looked like but they were having a closed pratice. They must have things that are top secret or a coach who knows what he is doing. Lol.

A closed practice is common for a good program. The Tigers have had closed practices now for a few years. Sorry you couldn't get it.

Here we go again. The Tigers boys basketball team can have all the closed pratctices that they want to, but that will not help them one bit when tournament time comes. The could have Phil Jackson instead of Mark Hatcher and they would most likely get beat in most of their games. Chapmanville is not a basketball town and it shows on the hardwood. Even having a good player like Mackenzie and a few Harts players is not enough to help the struggling Tigers advance to the civic center. In my opinion it will just be another long season with a few wins and watching other teams like Tolsia, Sissonville, and Poca run all over the Tigers. I really glad they are not playing Logan because a 85 to 55 loss is hard to take. Tigers will most likely go 12 and 10 in my opinion. Just another long season. Nothing never changes in Tigerland!

The program has another good coach who will try his hand at undoing 80 years of a bad program. It's not going to happen overnight. lol. However, the coaches and the kids have worked hard to turn things around in the last few years. Things are looking up. Once again, the team has been ranked in the Top 10 in AA the last few years and has been a contender for the Cardinal Conference each year. The Tigers have not found a way to get over the hump yet but they have been competitive and had much success as of late. Be patient! The new coach is also a winner. He has won over 800 games in his career and best of all, he is not from Chapmanville. lol. He's from Logan. When you are trying to build a program that's been this bad for so long, it won't happen overnight. You have to keep after it. It's not just about tournament runs. It's about success over the long haul.

Action speaks louder than words. If the Tigers make it to state tournaments then I will buy them a steak dinner. I have not seen who is playing yet , but I hope the real good players are going to play. When Coach Kirk coached a lot of the better basketball players would not even come out for the team. If the Tigers play team ball they will be alright, but if they play one man ball they will suck. It will be an interesting year in Tigertown this season. They need to get better with each and every game, play each game with the upmost intensity, and make the tough plays down the stretch. I believe the most of their games will be decided on which team plays the best in the last five minutes of the game. Enough said!

You win the "Dumbest Quote of the Day." Please tell me who the "best" players are who wouldn't play under Harry. When Harry coached, at CRHS all of the best players in the school, including those who wouldn't play before, came out for the team. Let me give some examples: Cliff Hall, Zack Maynard, Josh Easterling, Bubba Conley, Todd Terry, Matt Cook, Justin Mullins, Brooks Cooper, Ethan Brumfield, and on and on. The team posted three straight winning seasons, was ranked each year, finished at the top or near the top of the conference, and was positioned each year for a tournament run. Each year, they lost to Tug Valley or Scott -- one year, Tug won the state championship, another year Tug lost to Wyoming East at the state tournament, one year Scott was the state runner-up. Each year, CRHS competed with all of the best teams in our part of WV. Are you stupid???? One of the best players in Class AA, Mackenzie Martin, even left Tolsia to come play for Harry. You win the dumbest quote of the day! Let me remind you: the season before Harry took over, the program won FOUR games. FOUR. Please tell us who these great players are that DID NOT play. I would love to know. I would love to know which players you mean who were better than Todd Terry, Mackenzie Martin, Cliff Hall, Matt Cook... You can't name one. There were some great players who went through the program the last few years -- several All-State players. It's not all about getting to Charleston when the program has been traditionally so bad -- in 80 years, no one has made it to Charleston from Chapmanville. No team from Chapmanville has EVER made it to Charleston. It will take hard work to get there. I hope the boys have a great season this year and am always hopeful they do well in the tournament. Building a program takes a lot of hard work unless you recruit. The new coach has won over 800 games and I am confident he will build on what has been established in the last few years. Shame on you! You're the worst kind of fan!

To the fathead from West Hamlin who thinks he knows it all I do recall a Brumfield boy who was a very talented junior high player who just didn't want to play for Coach Kirk, I also remember a 6 foot 6 kid who named Buddy who would not play for Harry but dominated the Madison Senior League, in his Senior year, and I remember several other players who could have made a difference if they only went out and made the team. Yeah, I remember things and players because I am from Harts Creek .I really believe Coach Kirk had to almost spoon feed a lot of his old players to keep them happy. The Maynards, the Conley, the Brumfields, and the Halls were decent but they were not Allstate . Big Todd was the best you dumb jock. You call me the worst kind of fan , but I'm not. Look in the mirror idiot and see a real jerk.

Coaching Chapmanville Regional is apparently not the easiest job. Coach Kirk had a lot of adversity with several players who showed they could actually play the game. I will never forget Dylan Wiley. He had a lot of potential, but never finished the season. The injury bug really hurt Coach Kirk when he coached at CRHS. If this year team will show improvement with each and every game, stay away from major injuries, and play as a team they should be all right. I do agree with the one person who said that a lot of this year victories will be decided in the last four or five minutes of each and every game. The reason I say this is because the Tigers will most likely not be a dominant team, and the opponents will most likely not be a dominating team. Good luck to the Tigers!

A lot of basketball fans from the Chapmanville area thought Harry Kirk was going to be the difference, but with every team you have to have pretty good players to compete in AA basketball. The Tigers have had some good players in the last few years like Todd Terry and Matt Cook, but it seemed liked they began to fall apart come tournament time. Maybe Coach Hatcher can be the X factor.

Poor ignorant little "fan." You have no idea what you're talking about. Who is the Brumfield boy? I work in the school building at CRHS and have known every athlete from every program for the past twenty years. There was no Brumfield kid in the building except Ethan Brumfield and he played. Please give me a first name. You don't have one. You don't even know what you're talking about. I don't recall anyone in the building named Buddy (lol) who played any sport or spent a day in any of our classrooms. I might know the 6'6" kid you're talking about and he didn't play because he wanted to hunt -- he never played basketball for any coach at any level. However, he DID practice with the team a few days and after about three trips down the floor he fell over with a heart attack because he was so out of shape. No one spoon fed anyone. lol. That's a joke. Now listen here: Someone who dominates a Madison Buddy League is not a serious athlete. That's buddy league ball at a higher level. Just because you're 6'6" and you dominate a buddy league does not make you a quality high school athlete. I recall a wonderful athlete named Nick Fowler who also did well in that league. LOL. And Corey Stollings. LOL. How funny. Those guys were lunchtime stars. This all you got? Please give me some more names... Actually, you know what, because you have no idea what you're talking about, you should say nothing else. Everyone talks big after they graduate about who should have played, how good they were in a pick-up game, etc. It's not real basketball. And for your information, stupid, Cliff Hall was an All-state player. If you followed the sport for real, and not just the Madison Buddy League, you would know that. You're just a Harts Creek reject who never played yourself and think you know things when you don't. Just because you have a Harts Creek address does not mean you know anything about basketball. Did you play? I bet not. You're just another stupid fan. Try not to run Coach Hatcher off and discourage our team this year with your ignorance.

You really need to write a book West Hamlin smart ass. Yeah, I played ball at old Harts Creek and was a two year starter back when you were in stinky diapers most likely. The Brumfield kid had a dad named Anthony Brumfield and the kid was a real good junior high player because I remember watching him play. Maybe you know a little more about the Chapmanville boys because you cleaned floors at the school or took out trash that really doesn't bother me at this time. All Iknow is that when my old team played we were winners. For three years we posted a record of 65 wins and 12 losses. What did you do in high school great one? The big kid had a lot of potential and I could tell he loved playing basketball, but I do recall him telling me that he did not like to be coached by someone like Coach Kirk.
