J.J. was a great athlete in all sports that he participated in. There have been many great athletes pass through Chapmanville High School. But in 1987, our class was dominate in a lot of sports.

Wyoming East were state champs around that time too. It's easy to be considered a good qb when you have a lot of talent around you....which Jon and Lonnie didn't have that luxury. They were both good qb's though. Some of those qb's on that list were on teams with loads of talent but how far did they go? Mike Elkins? Evan Brown?(couldn't hit a barn 30 yards away)

And who did Jon Mullins have as a coach? Ooten? Enough said. Those 7 int's were probably because Wyoming East knew the 3 pass plays CHS was running.

TigerFan, obviously you are in love with Jon Mullins or a relative. I'm not trying to dog on him, cause he was a good athlete, but coming from experience having played with him when he was a soph, he was a much better receiver then QB. But then again, who was going to take snaps behind center, him or Farley? And how dare you take stabs at Elkins and Evans not being able to throw at a barn from 30 yds? Come on now, don't know about Brown, but Elkins at least through between 20 or 30 times a game and I know had at least 2000 yds for a 2 yr starter so come on now! And dont give me that talent pitch, cause his senior year, he only had a soph to throw to, that being Bartram.

You cant leave Josh Farley out of the argument he had all the amarts in the world about the game, but not the size, a cannon for a arm and he to was coached by J.J. Abbot

J.J. ABBOTT HANDS DOWN, NAME ANOTHER Q.B. TO LEAD HIS TEAM TO TWO UNDEFEATED SEASONS, NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL-STATE BOTH YEARS AND WAS THE CAPTAIN ON TOP OF THAT, THEN WAS VOTED MVP OF THE NORTH - SOUTH ALL -STAR GAME. THESE OTHE GUYS COULDN'T CARRY HIS JOCK.

logandude: get your facts right. Berry did not play one year because he was focused on grades, 4:00. Being QB for c-ville was not important to him. The proof is in the pudding. Starts Medical School at Marshall in the fall. I think that by far is a greater accomplishment than being QB at some little county High School.
