Why DO YOU THINK LOGAN WV is so Dead and NASTY

I have traveled all around and Logan WV is the most Nasty town I have been in. Yet the people whom live there act like they are the cream of the crop in people. If they would clean the town up and take interest in it as much as trying to be a WANT TO BE. Maybe they could hold there head up.

well you must not have traveled too many places if you think Logan is the most nastiest place. I bet you havent even been to Logan. Logan may not be the perfect place, but there are worse places out there. by the way why were you in Logan...visiting relatives?

I have lived in Logan all my life, however I have traveled to many different states and I must unfortunately say that this is one of the most depressing areas I have been to. There is trash everywhere. You cannot walk through downtwon Logan without someone asking you for money. I don't feel safe in downtown. I know there are worse places than Logan, but it is certainly not a very friendly town. Most people are so close minded and backwoods that they can't accept change and growth and I believe that is why we are so far behind. If people would stop being so lazy and stay off the drugs and make their children go to school and take part in their childrens education maybe we could break this vicious cycle. However, children with parents who use drugs and abuse the welfare system are just as likely to grow up and do the same. Come on people, take pride in yourself! Stop waiting for a check to be handed to you and go get a job! Keep your home and property clean. Don't throw trash out of your car window, wait until you get home. Take pride in how you look and open your mind to changes. Teach love not hate! It's ok to be different, maybe if we were more accepting of people who are different more people would want to visit us. Once we are proud of our area maybe others will be too.

Yes, Logan is one of the most depressed and depressing places to live. I was born and raised in Logan and as a child I would look to the top of the mountains and say to myself "there has to be more behind these mountains and more to life. I left and I found there was. In the 70s and 80s people were so friendly there but now in this generation of people in Logan they have no pride. I lived and there was no grass much in our yard but my mother would sweep only dirt up in order to make it look so clean. People had pride in those times. Logan is as bad as Mcdowell now days.On a street in holden they have Chickens and maybe pigs. This street at one time was beautiful. People need to take back the small communties and rid them of people of this sortd. I am not saying having chickens and pigs are bad just have them in the right place. I wonder what the people on this street feels when they see how it has gone down. ANY REPLY TO THIS BIG NEW 50,000 dollar aoto and trucks and a 10,000 dollar trailer. Does anyone see the picture.

LOGAN is the most CORRUPT PLACE in the US with Politians coming from the same generation of families. This county is like the presidental REbublician Party now serving in Washington DC. Corrupt men in the banking systems in Logan. These people are afraid to leave Logan because in bigger cities they would be only another face in the crowd. So they stay living in Logan because they are really scared of rejection.Then you have people that put crooked politians and bankers on a pedistle in order to have a feeling of being needed. I wish the FBI would come in and again clean the place up. Thenyou have exhibishionist showing there bodies to women at night through windows and these are the high profile men that do this.this.

My mother was born in Logan in the 30's, and I was thinking about taking her back to see her hometown since she hasn't been there in well over 50 years. What I'm reading here makes me think that it might depress her instead of the hoped-for nostalgic benefit. Is the entire area this way? Particular places that are worth visiting?

Ive talked to lots of people about wva and logan and mcdowell county. They all say something different. Some people want to know whats beyond the mountain and when they find out, they want to go back. I think the area needs growth, but too much will hurt the area too. People like that it quiet and back in the times. Heck i cant wait to get out of where i live. Big city life and or town life not for me. i want an area where the folks are friendly, i can have a job and live in the country.

I was in Logan County a about two years ago and I did find the Cheif Logan park looking real good. The new convention center was good. There were some new resturants and a new hotel in near by Chapmanville. So not all of Logan is bad. I would guess that there not a tax base in Logan County that could support community clean-up or social reform. West Virginia is first or last in all category ranking states in the USA. I am from Logan County and proud of it.

Most of the land is owned by the railroad an coal mines and they arent going to give it up. Lots of great ideas, but unless its given up, it wont work.

Yes logan Wv is the low end of everywhere USA and I can say that because I live here, There is nothing, no work, nothing to do oh yea they put in gambling which by the way is stealing from the elderly that starve because they cant give up the hope that they might win something big, they never will and they know that, Politics is what is wrong with Wv, They call them politicians, I call them thieves, liers, and crooks, they take everything they can get and return nothing, That kinda reminds me of someone else (BUSH), it is sad that I am considering moving out of this @#$% hole. If someone was to ask me if Wv is a good place to vacation, I would slap them in the mouth and say no (STUPID) go anywhere but there even if its your local dump,

So basically since there are no good jobs to get the money you need, you would hafe to move to find it, Lets see what Joe Manchin did for the people of Wv, he got a penny off of the food tax , and immidatly added 4 cents to gas, way to go Joe, sorry if I seem alittle giving up on Wv , but if politics has givin up on it, why should I stand alone and fight for it, I have worked here since I was 16, payed there taxes so on and so forth, lets see what they did for me. Ummmmmmmmmmmm
nothing, except ask for more and more money that I dont see a dime of going to anything, but there million dollar homes, how about the hatfield mccoy trails they passed these new laws inforcing no ATV's on the main road, any day of the week go to Man,Delbarton, Gilbert and see how many there are there, Mark my words before its over they will have it to where you can only ride on there trails for a executive price, I would stand and fight to the death for my home state, But why if all I get in return is higher taxes, higher gas , did I mention higher taxes(LOL), Dont mean any disrespect to any1, But you cant win a losing battle and untill we get some honest people in the political places , theres no point in spending my time, money Ect on something the government dosent even recognize

Oh come on, some of you act like Logan is the only place to have drugs and trash... Well I have been a few places too and I wouldnt trade Logan for any of your towns... And as for Logan being unfriendly, hmmm At least I can go outside the hospital at night and not be scared which is more than I can say for Charleston, we've had security guards warn us not to go outside at night down there because it was unsafe with all the drive bys and violence that is going on.... the same goes for other states too.... Gang violence, drugs, prostitution.... So dont act like Logan is the only one...

I have to agree with some of this post, but trust me, you dont pay the taxes we do in PA. Im surprised they dont charge us a pollution tax for farting up here.
