Willimantic, CT

We have been living in Willimantic CT since I was a child it used to be so quiet and neighbors helping neighbors and respect for others. Well all that has changed now the neighbors are loud noisy and very disrespectful they ride there dirt bikes illegaly up and down the road no exhaust and once the police leave they do it all over again like a slap in the law enforcements face..We have talked to them very nicely yet they sware at us and yell and tell us to mind our own business. We have called the police since then several times now were forced to sell our house. Also the town has ignored the house that has burned down next door for several years since then drug addicts have been breaking in stripping copper. Were has justice gone were letting this town go to crap and the town of Windham does not seem to care..

Boy the way Glen Miller played
Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us we had it made,
Those were the days.
And you knew who you were then,
Goils were goils and men were men,
Mister we could use a man
Like Herbert Hoover again.
Didn't need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days.

"Those Were the Days"

Boy, the way Glen Miller played.
Songs that made the Hit Parade.
Guys like us, we had it made.
Those were the days!

Didn't need no welfare state.
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days!

And you knew where you were then!
Girls were girls and men were men.
Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.

People seemed to be content.
Fifty dollars paid the rent.
Freaks were in a circus tent.
Those were the days!

Take a little Sunday spin,
go to watch the Dodgers win.
Have yourself a dandy day that cost you under a fin.

Hair was short and skirts were long.
Kate Smith really sold a song.
I don't know just what went wrong!
Those Were the Days!

Oooooh, the fifties. Those were the days. Willimantic was beautiful, everything was new to us, the children were innocent. We ice skated at Recreation Park. We swam at the river. We slid down High Street on our sleds. We walked in the woods even at night. In case you're too young to remember, there were no drugs or crime. Life was a dream, and Willimantic was a great place to be brought up. I remember Hosmer Mountain Soda and Remi's grinders. Like Chuckley said "What Went Wrong?"
