Hipaa Violation

Farmington, CT

#1 Mar 14, 2008
In Sept of 06, there was an employee that worked at Windham Hospital. He had a CT scan done of his abdomen. The very next day, he brought a patient to CT scan and when he walked in the CT room he noticed that his CT images were on the computer. He confronted this CT tech and asked her why she was viewing his CT images. Her response was, "I was curious to see your results" I told her it was none of her business!" then he reported her to management and he filed a complaint with Office of Civil Rights as well as hiring an attorney to sue the hospital and the employee. So what happen to the employee? Did she get fired? Did she get in trouble for what she did? Absolutely not, she was told that she is a excellent worker and that she wasn't going to get in trouble. She didn't even get a slap on the wrist. So what do you think should happen to her? The funny thing is that this wasn't the first time she viewed someone else's results. Let's talk about this.

I know exactly who you're talking about. His name is Bill. I just found out from another employee that he was wrongfully terminated. It's too bad, as he was an asset to Windham Hospital. He is so vibrant, happy and worked well with everyone, especially the patients. He is great with the patients, gentle, kind, caring, compassionate and professional. He will be missed by everyone. He is a hard working individual. He really loved his job. I find it unfair what they did to him. Harassing him due to his sexual orientation, harassment by a greer secretary, harassment by his supervisor. Then to top it all off a fellow co-worker looking at his x-ray results with out his permission. I'm ashamed of this hospital. I'm going to miss you Bill.

from the confusing sentences and poor grammar in both above posts and the inability to keep the narrative person straight, he/i/bill; i'm wagering windhamnurse and hipaaviolation are one and the same person.

hipaa violations are treated according to hospital policies; the laws do not a hospital MUST terminate an employee for a violation; some situations are grievous - the britney spears violations eg - an they result in termination; some warrant only a reprimand.

so unless someone is terminated for a violation you have no idea at all how the violation is handled - it would be a hipaa violation to reveal how the violation was 'punished'.

sounds like someone needs to put his CT scan behind him and move on with his life

Day Kimball hospital fires anyone that breaks the hipaa law. Umass fires anyone that breaks the hipaa law, as well as other hospitals in this region. There's actually more to this story, which will be revealed later on. I have first hand knowledge of the incidents.

windham hospital xrays

Never get your xrays done at windham hospital, get them done at windhamradilogy.com your doctor will order xrays on a requisition and the req, will say windham hospital diagnostics imaging. Just because the dr writes out a req on a windham hosp. req, doesn't mean you have to have your xrays done at that hospital, you can have your xrays done at any hospital and any radiology center. Having your xrays done at windhamradiology.com will be quicker and the staff is more polite than at windham hospital, plus your information is more secure. A former staff member that used to work at windham hospital had his radiology records stolen, never trust any of the staff in the radiology department. they are mean and don't care about the patients, they only care about their pocket books

I have a active Hipaa complaint against my ex girlfriend of 41/2 years and engaged for 2 years.I believe she read my medical records several times over our 41/2 year relationship. She read them recently and recognised my health declining and cut off the engagement and relationship. She just went from union worker to managment and did her whole attitude and mood change when her job title changed. These Hipaa violations seem to happen all the time at Windam Hospital and I won't go back there.
