I took My Pet to Gregg Harris Dvm to board in June I ask them to check her for swelling. He said he did and ask us if she had puppies we said no, he said just to watch it, well why did'nt they draw blood to see what it was? They probably could of saved her, but instead they sent her home, had to take her back to the vet this past Thursday at this time she had swelling under her neck. Wy Question is Why did;nt they draw Blood when Roxy was there in June? So Thursday July 20 they said were going to run some test which no test were run they just told us it was lymphoma and there was nothing they could do. Ok Friday we had to put her to sleep, We wanted to have her creamated they gave us a number to call I called it I had to call the vet back to give them permission to come get her.it was already 3:45pm which the vet closed at 5:00 the vet called them back to find out if they were coming if so they would just put ROXY IN A BAG AND PUT OUTSIDE BY THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING< Like a BAG of Trash when the lady called to let me know they picked Roxy up she told me.she told them not to put her outside I had enough to deal with and then I heard what the Vet was doing to her after she was dead. I can't keep it out of my mind,That was not right. I just wonder how They treated her when we boarded her at that place. I think when you take your pet to the vet to get there anual shots they should check your pet all over and make notes.I just do not want them to treat any more pet owners like they did me. If you would like to contact me lindawaldran1s@bellsouth.net I will be glad to talk to you, Change Vets If you do not want this to happen to your pet.

Sorry to hear about that, but unfortunately it doesn't surprise me. I will never take another pet to him due to some other bad experiences.

Dr. Harris is a decent man but I'm with you, I'd never take an animal to him. I've heard so many horror stories about him. I know that he killed a woman that we are friend's with goat. It had gotten bloated and he gave it some type of tranquilizer without properly measuring it out and it died in minutes. I'm sorry for your loss though.

I DID CHANGE VETS! I took my horses to Dr. Harris to get thier shots and he stated they would have to have their booster shots later on. He never called or sent a card to remind me of their booster shots. After he did the first round of shots, I contacted his office and asked why one horse had bald places on her legs which he was suppose to have checked out when he gave her the first shots. No one could tell me and told me to call back later. I called back later and his rude receptionist stated they didn't know because they don't keep records for horses. SAY WHAT! Now I take my horses to a much better vet.

I'll have to agree with the rude receptionist comment. I think that is a prerequisite to work there. :)

I've been taking my pets ( large and small ) to Dr. Greg Harris for many years and I would never take them anywhere else. At 2:00am he is there for you and your pet when your dog is in labor. At 11:00pm he's at your house for you and your horse to treat for colic.... and I've even seen him treat animals that people had no money to pay. He is a great MAN and an asset to our community.

You obviously didn't know this information but.... At Dr. Greg Harris' office there were 2 vets. Dr. Harris actually never treated Roxy... Roxy was Dr. Jennifer Byrds case. At the time Roxy was being treated Dr. Jennifer Byrd was in the process of leaving our office to open her own office and obviously didn't take care of this properly, but in any event, it is noted in Roxy's chart that the owner (meaning you) declined blood work. We welcome you into our office to look at the chart.

I can tell you right now that to get your dog "checked over" you have to request it. You cannot just bring a dog in for shots and expect the vet to do a whole exam. I'm very sorry about your dog, they should not have left her outside. I can say that the bag they put her in was not a trash bag. It is a special type of bag that the vet has to order to preserve her body. And Dr. Harris was not the vet who handled your dog's case, it was Dr. Byrd.
Veterinary Services in Chapel Hill is a great place to take your pets. There is a whole new staff that treats you and your pet with love and care.

I think it USED to be a prerequisite to work there to be hateful! The staff there now is WONDERFUL. They even have a new vet who is so respectful. I really like it there.

I used to work for a large/small animal vet in franklin and these doctors see hundreds of animals a month. you expect them to remember one? if the doctor told you that your animal needed a booster, it is your responsibility to take care of it. As far as the receptionist comment, there were VERY RUDE receptionists who used to work there but they are gone!(thank God!) Everyone there is very sweet and very willing to help any way that they can. I'm sorry for your bad experience there, but Dr harris is a great vet who knows what he's doing.

I too have used Dr. Harris about 6 months ago and do you know this poor lady had to put her cat to sleep (bless her heart) and I was inside checking out when this lady's car wouldn't start. We tried to get it started and Dr Harris came outside to help. He then got some jumper cables and got her car started. This is the type of man he is. He felt terrible that her cat had to be put to sleep and then her car wouldn't start. We stayed and talk to him after she left and he just felt so bad for her. Sometimes people need to get their details correct before dis-crediting a doctor.

And it's your responsibility to make sure you keep up with your animals shot records. My doctor doesn't call me to tell me I need to come in to have blood work done or shots.

But just be nicer to people!! The office manager got in a verbal fight with a client in the front office while it was full of people! She has been rude to quite a few I've heard. I know of at least 4 people that have left because of the rudeness there. That is not counting employees. Dr. Byrd left I was told because of the office manager, and I think the very nice lady vet who was there last(can't remember her name) did also.

If your help is running off clients and even your vets...time to get rid of the help.

We are now taking ours somewhere else even tho we really liked Dr. Harris and the care he gave our animals, we don't think you should be talked down to or yelled at by the office staff.

I've been going to Dr.Harris for my pet's needs and I can't say enough good things about his services.

Over the last 20 years that I've used his services, I've seen a variety of persons working there. Some good, some great and some were down right miserable human beings. But I'm there for the Doctors services, not to socialize with the staff, even though it would be nice for them to act decent.

I didn't care for Dr.Byrd as she didn't appear to be really interested in giving me detailed information about my animals treatments. She also seemed to be in a rush to get me out of the exam room, even when I was the only customer there.

As of right now, the current staff there is just great and I couldn't recommended them enough. In fact when I get a chance I try to steer people to Dr.Harris's office.

the new vet is much more reasonably priced when it comes to having to put an animal to sleep. she will also let you leave your animal in the car and she will come outside. dr. harris won't do that. i guess he'd rather you have to carry your dead animal out through the waiting room. how cruel.
