Here we go again. Jonathan Lee Cunningam murdered by police. Read all about it on WTVD or WRAL. If you believe the lying story in the paper, this "mentally ill" man was being tansferred to OLD Vineyard Hospital in Winston. The deputy sheriff allowed him to ride in the front seat without hand cuffs. This man was set up. God only knows what the deputy said or did to make him react like he did. Where were the tazers? Where was the pepper spray? Why shoot to kill? I'll tell you why. They were saving the state money! One less mentally ill person to burden the system. This is bad news folks. He is not listed on the NCDOC site so I assume he did not have a criminal record. This is the command from the Georgia GuideStones at work. Reduce the population. This is Hilter raised from his grave. Kill all the "worthless and non productive" people, Genocide!

I just looked at the website for Old Vineyard in Winston Salem. They are described as an acute inpatient program for adults 18 and over who are at risk of harm to themselves or others, require crisis intervention, stabilization or detoxification and are unable to function in a less restrictive setting. Now somebody tell me why this man was allowed to ride in the front seat without handcuffs if he was indeed being transported to Old Vineyard. No LE is that stupid! If you are LE and you are willing to follow the plans of reducing the population you might want to think twice about keeping that job. You will pay a price somewhere down the road and for certain in Eternity you will pay the ultimate price for doing in a helpless person because some sick control freaks think they own the planet and can decide who lives and dies. The clarion call of this evil day is RESIST!!!

I knew him. You are right he had no crimimal record. Get this according to his family he was shot in the head. Where were the tazer or pepper spray? He needed help and that is all his family was trying to do. The no hand cuffs and in the front seat that is weird. Jonathan was about 6' 4" maybe he did not fit in the back, but no hand cuffs? This is all hard to understand.

Let's get down to brass tacks. LE is not trained to have compassion on the mentally ill. They did not want to take the time or use the money to safely transport this man to Winston.

Jon should be alive right now! Up until the last six months this was a guy most every other guy envied, handsome as hell, a successful entrepreneur, traveling the world. He got sick though, and he needed our help, and these cops, entrusted with protecting him, instead murdered him. Someone needs to answer for this. I am a former Solder, and I am the first to defend our public servants, but anyone dumb enough to put Jon in the front seat of a police car without handcuffs should not have a badge, and anyone so trigger happy to shoot an unarmed sick man shouldn't be carrying a gun around.

On a more personal note, Jon was a great guy. Very intelligent, open-minded, and just a fun guy to be around. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement.

I am so sorry for you and his family and friends. It just seems like there is no compassion left for the helpless in our society.

I hope someone will tell the whole story about Jon. What happened that caused his family to call for help? Why wasn't he just held in Raleigh for a few days for an evaluation?

Jon voluntarily went in for an evaluation about a month ago. He was only there a few days. Honestly, I never felt confident in the diagnosis. In any case though, the last few months, he was not himself. He became very paranoid. I have no doubt he was terrified of the police who were chasing him. I honestly think, based on his other recent behavior, he was just trying to get away from them.

As far as the details about why his family called for help, all I'm comfortable saying is that it was justified. They 100% did the right thing, and the system failed them. The police failed to do their job of transporting him safely to a medical facility.

The entire situation is so surreal to me. My mind can’t reconcile the Jon I’ve heard about in the last few months to the one I’ve known all my life. Everything happened so quickly. Just last summer, he seemed to be doing great. Maybe there were more subtle signs I wasn’t witness to, but it’s all so hard to believe. None of it adds up in my mind. Now that he’s gone, I don’t know that we’ll ever really find the answers. It’s all so heartbreaking and tragic. He was such a wonderful person. Never in a million years would I ever have believed something like this could happen to him.

Note, the comment about tasers not being used and him being shot in the head may be inaccurate. Regardless though, he was still an unarmed man, gunned down it seems solely because three trained officers were simply exhausted and frustrated by their own inability to control a mental health patient. An article I read yesterday confirmed that the police would have received Jon's paperwork and the petition for his involuntary commitment before transporting him, so there was no excuse for them not being prepared for him to grab the steering wheel of the car or for the extremes he might go to escape from their custody. They were apparently ignorant or incapable of comprehending Jon’s mental state and how that was affecting his behavior and reaction to them. He wasn’t some rabid dog you gun down after a few failed attempts to catch him. He was a human being, a wonderful human being, and he deserved far better than this. I wish I had the chance to say a few choice words to these officers. I just hope they aren't able to carry a gun and badge around after this and that the department makes some changes so that this heartache and life loss isn't inflicted on another family.

Squirrel: Just based on your childish and insensitive display here, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that in Jon's 35 years on this earth, he positively impacted more lives, in more ways, and more significantly they you ever will, so you can joke all you like about him and pretend he was just some crazy guy, but you didn't know him, and he was, no doubt, a better man than you. You are a sad individual, and I truly hope that one day you mature.
