I think that everyone who thinks that spanking a child is wrong, should teach school for one week. It may save tax payers now but we will have to foot the bill when these children grow up and go to prision.
Go to a grocery store where a toddler is kicking his mother in the leg with his shoes and screaming at her, tell me it would be wrong to take him to the restroom and spank him (not beat him) would be bad behavior on Moms side. You do not have to beat a child, but a good ole spanking has made a difference in a childs life.
This is just unheard of, let the children rule the world, who needs Hillary, let the kids have at it...

A good spanking never hurt no one--just their feelings. The kids now days---and my youngest is living proof--will push teachers just as far as they can to see what the limits are--and they are finding out that the sky is the limit. ISS is not punishment, neither is OSS. I had a teacher that had a ruler from hell and she didn't hesitate to use it on the back of your hand, head or anywhere she could pop ya with it. It sure got my attention several times with no ill effects.

I feel a little different about someone hitting my child tho. When I was his age, things were different and if you needed your butt busted--there was always someone happy to oblige. Switches were the worst. I believe what we got in school were called 'paddlings', not spankings--that was for when ya got home from school after getting a paddleing.

My husband and I spank our kids when called for- but I don't like the idea of anyone other than my husband or I spanking our children. I remember being scared to death of the principal in my elementary school- I saw him man handle a fellow kindergardener one time- I never got into trouble after that!

If there is no ramification for bad behaviour there is no discpline. The threat of spanking is an effective deterent in most circumstances. I was spanked once in school and that was good enough for me, and I think I turned out ok. i am not for abuse,I recall seeing a Nun spank a first grader with a ping pong paddle and break it off. I will admit I have a problem with that. I think if a child warrants a spanking that parents should be notified before hand, advised of what occured then give them an option spanking or suspension. To Local Mom do you think maybe thats why you stayed out of trouble?

The only time I ever received a spanking in school, they DID notify my mother. Besides my rearend hurting a little and my ego being crushed for a few minutes, I was ok. And yes, I do agree that being disciplined and learning that actions have reactions and consequences will help you stay out of trouble.

I agree with you 100% I hae a 4 yr old and a two+ yr old. They are wonderful beautiful children, but sometimes, especially in Ingles, they have outright disregard for my authority. Spankings, and that is one or two firm ones one the butt with my hand, are in order. It is not abuse, and hardly a fraction of the spanking I got from my mom. But like you, I would be upset if someone else put their hands on my babies.

I TOO HAVE SEEN THE SAME THING AT INGLES WITH THE 2-4 YR OLDS AND THE MOMS SAYING " JUST WAIT TIL YOUR FATHER GETS HOME" BULL CRAP!!!! I RECALL BACK IN JR HIGH AT SOUTH FRENCH BROAD, RODNEY MANGUM WAS ASSISTANT DEAN OF BOYS. HE WAS IN CHARGE OF PADDLING THE BOYS. OF COURSE THEY ALWAYS HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER TEACHER PRESENT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WELL SOME GUY PICKED UP A TRASHCAN AND THREW IT AT MR MANGUMS HEAD. I WOULDA TOOK MY LICKS INSTEADA HAVING THE COPS CALLED CAUSE THE MOST LICKS YA EVER GOT WAS 3-4. AND A LETTER SENT HOME TO YOUR MAMMA AND DADDY. AND A PHONE CALL HOME TO THEM. I ALWAYS MADE IT HOME TO UNPLUG THE PHONE BEFORE THE CALL CAME THRU, EITHER THAT OR ANSWERED THE PHONE AND PRETENDED TO BE MY MOMMA SPECIALLY IF SHE WAS GONE CAUSE I KNEW SHE DINNA CARE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER BOUT ME ANYWAYS. ONLY MY GRAMMA AND PAPAW AND AUNT CARED BOUT ME AN I DINNA DARE TELL THEM I HAD GOTTEN WHACKED.CAUSED I KNEW I WOULD GET SPANKED BY THEM AGAIN FOR NOT MINDING THE TEACHERS. EDUCATION WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO THEM, BUT AFTER MY DADDY DIED FOR A WHILE I JUST DINNA CARE ABOUT ANYTHING OR ANYBODY.

The 21 remaining paddling states do worse overall in education, violent crime, and prison rates. Paddling does not cure any of the ills people imagine it does, and if anything creates further problems. It also fosters hidden sex and sadism fetishes among students and staff.

The Bible does not teach paddling, and the New Testament, contrary to common false teaching, does not teach anyone to hit anyone.

The actual origin for paddling was US slavery, and that is why today's heavy hitter states -- the top being Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, and TN, and down the line are pretty much an exact overlay of the antebellum slave states.

109 countries have already abandoned school CP, and all of the two-dozen or so wealthy industrialized countries worldwide have done so except the US. Overall they do much better than we do in education, violence, and crime rates.

It is long past time to end the slave plantation model of schooling and enter the 21st century. You can discipline children, especially in the school setting, without violence.

Paddling alone will not solve anything. I was always more afraid of what mom and dad would do when I got home, than a few swats on the behind from a teacher. A lot of the problems with kids today go back to parents who feel their kids can do no wrong and blame the school or teachers for their kids unruly behavior.

I went to Swannanoa Elementary, they had no problems with paddling. One teacher we were terrified of was Mr.Trask ... He had holes in his paddle in order to get a good swing. Unfortunately I had a very big mouth in School and got paddled alot for talking or chewing gum. But it was needed and I lived and learned.

Spanking fosters hidden sex and sadism fetishes among students and staff.

Ive heard of everything, now. Thats like the book I had in college that implies and states that men who wear suspenders suffer from a castration complex.

Kids have over active hormones and imaginations. I would blame that for the sex and sadism fetishes way before I would a paddle.

And retiredlawman, that was too cute.

WOW! I havent heard that one before. Spanking children has nothing to do with slavery. Lets remember as far as I am concerned a spanking is a couple of pops on the bottom with my hand not even a paddling device. It is a last resort in my home after all of the modern idea about discipline for kids which does work some times. I cannot even begin to describe how ridiculously disgusting the idea about the fostering of hidden sex and sadism fetishes. Maybe you are the one with the issues cause no pleasure at all comes from having to spank my children. It is a terrible thing to make your children cry, but it does them a far greater dis-service to allow them to grow up with out discipline. I would love to hear your ideas for disciplining children with out CP. Do you even have any kids?

I dont have kids, loveithere, but am frequently battered because of my views over this one. A few smacks on the butt never hurt anyone when I was growing up. There is a BIG difference between abuse and discipline. And I cant stand disrespectful, horrible little kids. Or disrespectful poser teenager/adults, for that matter.

My dogs get a combination spanking (pop under the chin) and timeout when they misbehave. They seem to dislike the timeout more than anything, because they see their other pals out and about having a good time. But then, to tolerate bad behavior is to deserve it.

yes I do not care for the outright disrespectful kids either. That is why I do what I do. I hope to avoid raising disrespectful kids. I think a few good smacks on the butt are a good thing sometimes. They seem to help the children too!LOL
