Reporting the weather is not the most exact science out there. I prefer the weather rock, when it's wet, its raining, when its covered in snow, its snowing, when its dry and warm, its sunny and when its gone, its a tornado!!!

I came home from a trip on the same day/evening in May when the Hugo tornadoes hit. I'm personally very grateful for knowing the weather that day ahead of time, and I'm sure other people do too.

Staying off the roads when it's freezing rain prevents accidents, injuries, even death. These reports have their place.

I prefer it when they are wrong on the side of less snow and rain. I do appreciate the advances in forecasting, especially with tornado season. I was just attempting to inject a little humor in the topix column.

It gives bored newscasters something to talk about. Ya we know it's gonna snow, but do we really need team coverage?

I can't wait until some newscaster starts with,'Go into the fetal position and weep uncontrollably', when making a snowy forecast.

LAME. Nice sensationalism. When did several replace a couple or few?

Headline = "Freezing rain to be followed by several inches of snow today in metro area"

First sentence = "Freezing drizzle started at the National Weather Service in Chanhassen in the mid-afternoon today and will sweep across the metro. It's expected be followed by 2-3 inches of snow. "

I have three, they love summer because I have a closed in porch that they can lay in the sun on all day.

Some places got 8+ inches of snow (though I don't think those places were technically the metro area).

About 9 years ago or so we had a warm January. I wondered who was trying to take my picture (I saw a large flash of light, which I assumed was a camera flash) but no one was around me and the sound followed by thunder. And with the March 1998 tornadoes I suppose anything is possible.

Feel free to blame me if it happens!

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Sagittarius

You'll feel friendly with everyone you meet today, and you might even be lucky financially. Money should be coming in, but going out rather fast as well... Astral influences will keep you on your toes, and will probably make you flirtatious, but they could also make you moody. This makes it tricky for close relationships to run on an even keel. The truth is, perhaps you don't want too much closeness at the moment. Your partner probably knows that you're often like this, by now, anyway.
