I watched this even from the beginning of June until Aug 23rd and somehow two of the worst singers won... Why did the only person who got a standing ovation not get 1st place? That big girl could sing... It was seriously over when she did. Some how the 2 people that have gotten 1st and 2nd place for now 4yrs in a row (who suck by the way ) won the same spots again?

I know Shawn and he does not suck.... You are probably one of the ones who goes to every karaoke contest in town and says they're rigged.... People like you take the fun out of things and while yes I think there should be a rule that if you won you can't win the next time but obviously ur friend didn't have something.... Ive personally had standing ovations and have not won contest but at least I can say people r better then me.... It is all a mater of opinion.... You're friend may be good to you but people who have been involved in music the majority of their lives may say otherwise.... So to say something was rigged is bs.... None of those judges personally knew Shawn.... And would have no reason to pick him....

I'm absolutely not surprised that it could be rigged at all. Haven't been there for karaoke in forever.

LOL... I don't know what contest you were watching, but if you're claiming they were 2 of the worst singers either you are extremely biased, you were watching the people singing during open karaoke or you were outside smoking.

"It was seriously over when she did".. You're right, it was over... for her any way. The screaming was an immediate turn off for most of the people in the crowd who were NOT with her group.. at least that's what I heard everyone saying.

"Why did the only person who got a standing ovation not get 1st place?".. well for starters, it's not a contest on who gets the biggest standing ovation. The score is based on 4 categories that are weighted equally by 5 different judges WITH MUSICAL BACKGROUNDS. Second of all, she may have got a standing ovation... but it was from the group of people she brought with her, NOT the entire audience.

This was only the 3RD Karaoke Survivor contest.

In closing, you should tell your "friend" she needs to learn about a little something called "sportsmanship" and showing some respect for the other contestants. Her actions and some of the things she said reflect that of a 10 year old throwing a temper tantrum. First and foremost, a karaoke contest is for FUN and you should never go into any contest expecting to win, let alone when it's the FIRST CONTEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN IN. Should they maybe have put a clause in the contest that says you have to sit out a year if you win?... possibly... but even if they had, then why all of the criticism about the 2nd place finisher who hasn't won this contest? Also, why take it out on the person won got 1st? He didn't make the rules. Just because the Colts might win the Super Bowl, do you seriously expect them to sit out the next year and not try to win it again? I find it insulting to the other contestants that some people would just assume that he would win again. There were several talented singers in the contest. It seems to me people are either jealous because maybe they are not as talented or that they don't want to put the effort into trying to better themselves.

Anyone can win a karaoke contest, but you have to put the practice and the effort in every day to be the best you can be.

Congrats to all of the contests, no matter where you may have placed. It was a nice contest other than all of the complaining.

the contest was bullshit The second place winner had sang off key for weeks and weeks She missed words on top of that yea the scores arent based on standing ovation but some of the scores are knowledge of song which obviously the bitch didnt know just cause u waive ur damn hand in the air doesnt mean ur doing a damn thing yes the big girl should of won and yea the first place winner didnt suck but he sure as hell wasnt the best singer in the contest. I heard everyone sing Every week and the big girl was by far the best if u wanted someone right and white to win then name the damn contest just that white and right kareoke ps i didnt hear the bitch scream at all all i hear was the second place contestant missing words singing off key and giving the worst possibly i think i know it all attitude i was quiet over hearing her stand in line and saying how awesome she thought she was at everything

To begin I am not sure what prompted all of this however... When you are entering a contest knowing all along that you will be picked even if there were contestants that may be better than you, you are trifling. So if you do that, then yes another person being bitter with you for taking a prize that you didn't earn on your own merit is dirty. Newsflash there are several people I know that sing far better on their worst day than I could on my best, however none of them were there(save for Matt and Mark) I stand corrected, the AFRICAN AMERICAN gentleman who sang (can't recall his name) in open karaoke that made a bunch of people's jaw drop including seasoned singer Gina Moore. He could have beat everyone there. He stopped doing their contests because Shawn beat him. I personally don't think Shawn is a bad singer but by no means worthy of 1st or even 2nd place. I actually expected it to be Mark or Matt to beat me. Had that been the case I can easily accept that I had been outdone. They were wonderful. To be honest any but 3 in the top 10 could have won scored higher and I could see why. However when no one claps for you, you don't know the words, you sound just under average at best (Shelly Long) you don't deserve 2nd place. As far as my behavior, are you kidding me? Obvious set up and someone is not supposed to be bitter? They are lucky I didn't do it on the Microphone. Judges with music experience... Yeah being supervisor of Aztar Food and Beverage department makes you a regular Quincy Jones. GET REAL.. There were numerous errors when computing the scores throughout the contest, let alone biased judges. Mistie sang a song and the DJ accidentally hit a button and she had NO LYRICS and got every word right and still didn't get a perfect on knowledge of song. "Screaming" seriously? Hell if getting into it wasn't part of the song it's still a damn sight better than not knowing the words and thinking that you are some Tina Marie, Joss Stone or Adele when you when you have about as much soul as Michael BOLTON. The contest was so rigged a DJ that worked it one night told me so. So please by all means get a clue or eat a D*ck... Either way keep me out of it. Somehow I am to blame because other people knew that contest was a load?

All contests are set up like this. The best singers don't always win, just look at all the vocalist tv shows. Happens every time. As far as the whole race issue that the dude brought up, tbh bro a lot of the brothers and sisters that sing around here do way too many runs in their songs period. That stuff is not cute and it's actually going to kill you in voting. Contests aren't all bout power, knowledge and quality, it's a combination of them all. Lol, I have never won a big contest around here, have been beaten by shawn before. But, I go up to Chicago and sing in idol and now I'm goin to Hollywood. So I can't win here in contests of 10-30 people yet I go up there and win among 15000 people. Just keep your head up. The best doesn't always win.

True that babe! I agree on the runs, doing too much of the Keysha Cole sound. Congrats on going to Hollywood! I hope you bring it home! Let someone do good that deserves it is GREAT! IN MY BOOK!

I will say this, half the time in these contests, the singing isn't judged as highly as presentation and song choice. Also, again it's very sad to see people equate this thing to a race thing. I was in the idol tryouts here in Evansville and a brother, who couldn't hold a candle to me, beat me. Tbh fact is, brothers and sisters have the advantage in most contests round here because R&B is more popular than country and rock around this area. Don't come at me with a race thing. One of the only things that's is color blind is music. Don't believe me? Then how could all those black singers in te 40's 50's and so on done so well? Music is universally every color there is. As for the girl that lost, take it as a learning expirience and o get em next time. I've been beat by just about every karaoke contest singer in the ville, and tbh tere isn't a singer here better than me. I take it as maybe I chose te wrong song. Or maybe the judges didn't like how I presented it. Really if you are a great singer, then all we should care about is that we are getting heard doin something that we love and have passion to do. Like I said keep your head up and keep doin your thang girl!!!
