Here a good regulation to kick it off. How about keeping violent criminals looked up behind bars until they are no longer a threat to the general public. With a recividism rate of over 50% for violent thugs, that would be an EXCELLENT place to start. In fact....let's do that for the mentally ill who are a danger to themselves and others as well.
Sound good?
Danny Boy has rejected this course of action on numerous occasions. He's too wrapped up in the liberal policies that keep putting criminals and psychos back out on the streets to commit more crimes over and over. You have suggested the same logical solution that I did when I first started posting here. Liberal leftists like Danny Boy simply refuse to hear of it. They prefer to hold all of society responsible and legislate against EVERYBODY rather than take aim at the root of the problem, which is all of those psychos and criminals walking free among us.

By leaving them locked up until they are no longer violent or dead. PERIOD. How exactly do you plan on rehabbing someone who is a violent criminal???
And are suggesting alink between releasing the mentall ill and crime rates going down???
And my proposal makes PERFECT sense. If some people are a danger to the general public, put them in a place where they will NOT be a danger to the public. I can't explain it any simpler than that.
Okay, incarceration for life for every violent criminal. Sounds expensive, but at least you've suggested SOMETHING.

No, I'm not suggesting a link. I'm saying it's a terrible idea with no evidence to support it's need or effectiveness.

The problem with your "lock em up and throw away the key" approach is that it's been tried and it didn't work. One reason that it didn't work is because previously non-violent people become violent. And often its unpredictable.

So even if every previously violent person went away, there will still be an ever increasing number of newly violent people. Eventually you'll run out of jails and money and the rate of violence will be unchanged.

And yes...someone locked up in a jail cell, AWAY FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC, is no longer a threat to the general public. If they want to act like animals....lock their ass up like one. I don't give a shit if they are rehabbed or not. Let 'em rot.
Yeah, I got that. Thanks.

What part of locking up the violent and dangerous, and educating the young do you not understand???
You do understand that every violent person was not violent at some point, right? People who have never killed kill. People who have never shot anyone before become shooters.

It's not like we're dealing with a discrete, stable number of people. People with no history of violence murder their families. People with no history of violence shoot up schools and movie theaters. Locking them up AFTERWARD doesn't prevent that.

Do you have any PREVENTATIVE solutions? Or is "let them rot" the best you have?

I see you've reverted to 100% personal attacks 100% of the time.

Like I said the FIRST TIME you abandoned the debate and initiated personal attacks against me: Rightwingers can only hold it together for so long. They come with a veneer of respectfulness and politeness, but when you confront their lies and distortions and reveal the illogic of their arguments, they're all the same - angry, vulgar name-callers.

Thanks for staying true to form and proving me right.

Again.

So you are laughing at making the person responsible for leaving the gun where her mentally ill son had access to it accountable for her actions???

What exactly do you have against PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY? A responsible person would have made sure that the shotgun was either locked up or removed from the house so the son couldn't get to it, wouldn't they??? Remember....there are already laws against reckless endangerment (and wouldn't the mother's irresponsible actions be considered reckless???). A lot of good they did, huh??

And when they do commit these heinous acts....you lock them up and throw away the fucking key. PERIOD!

Don't tell me you think the movie Minority Report where Tom Cruise is a futuristic cop where three special people can predict crimes before they happen is a documentary??? LMAO!!!

Until you can invent a better crystal ball that can help the powers that be predict the future, the best you have is education and punishment. No law passed EVER stopped someone bent on destruction from accomplishing that goal. NONE! And those that commit these attrocious acts RARELY do so just on a whim. In just about every case, there were signals beforehand that these people "who just snap" were getting ready to. Those around them simply ignored the signs or played it off believing "they would never do something like that". Not to mention that these cases are EXTREMELY RARE. They just get more airtime and sensationalized by the media.

You want to live in a free/free-er society? It comes with some risks. If not....MOVE to whatever socialist shithole you can find! You WILL NOT remove my right to protect me and mine with an effective weapon from these wastes of human flesh.

For the worst offenders...execution. If the others won't behave...leave their ass in there until they do or they can suffer the same fate. And I am all for building more jails. That's the problem with you libtards. You fail to believe that there are people out there who are inherently EVIL and want nothing to do with being rehabilitated. Put them down like a rabid dog and be done with them. PERIOD!

You have been...You have never said that you support enforcing the law...you only tell others to call their Congressmen.

Sooooo...are you going to contact your Congressmen to push them to get the laws enforced before supporting expansion of the law?
