A nation 16 trillion in debt, and continuing to spend tens of billions of dollars every day while borrowing 40 cents on every dollar from the Chinese, the Russians, the UAE, etc. Every taxpaying American's share of this debt now over 140,000 dollars each. Stop the insanity Pennsylvania. This president's economic carnage has to end.

I contemplate often the blatant stupidity of what it would take to be a liberal today. I still haven't found the answer, but the notion is still supported by such posts as yours.

We have a president who has grown government as a percentage of GDP by nearly 7 percent, with a requisite corresponding loss in the private sector... you know, that private sector that PAYS for the public sector?

Let me explain it the way the Mayor of Scranton explained it. His standing obligation to the city pension fund now exceeds 55 million dollars a year. After cutting the city service sector to the bone, he has only 22 million comming in annually. Paying these exhorbitant pensions to people who retire in their 50's is unsustainable.

Obama has literally bankrupted the nation. I know, you refuse to accept that, thinking the Fed can just continue printing our way out of debt. But there is a consequence to that... devaluation of the dollar ---- much of it held in pension funds, making them worth far less than what was put in--- and inflation, which is now running our gas, grocery, textile, and servies costs at MORE THAN TWICE WHAT IT WAS WHEN OBAMA TOOK OFFICE.

People on welfare... up from 23% to now 35% of the entire US population. Free car allowance, free insurance, free healthcare, free cell phones, free internet, free college,.... free, free, free. UNSUSTAINABLE. ILLOGICAL. INSANE.

I could literally post the insanity of the Obama Administration.. which is largely socialist and communist by the way... all day, but it would surely be lost on hyperpartisan leftwing loons like you.

Scranton's economy has been in the toilet since mid-80s...

Bad economic times are going to hurt the weakest cities first/most...Scranton is no exception.

Scranton sounds like a Conservative dream come true...Smaller, less expensive government.

What should the mayor have done? Raised taxes?

What did Obama have to do with "exorbitant pensions?"

Anybody who compares the US economy to Greece's is simply not someone to take seriously.

The US has low interest rates and the world is lining up to loan us money. Hell, the interest rates the US is paying is below the rate of inflation. IOW - people who are buying US debt are paying the US for the privilege of borrowing our money. Greece has high interest rates and nobody wants to loan them money.

We have out own currency. Greece has the Euro.

We have a great credit rating. Greece has a terrible credit rating.

The US is able to manage its debt. We always pay what we owe. Greece can't do that.

The US has an enormous economy - one of the largest in the world. Greece is a small country with a small economy.

The US as a very stable form of government. Greece has an unstable government.

Claims that that US is broke or that our economy is at risk of collapse are simply not serious. It is fearmongering based on paranoia, false beliefs, and dishonest comparisons.

LOL! ANOTHER distortion of the President's words by removing them from the context to claim they mean something they do not.

If the President is so horrible, why does the Romney campaign have to tell lies about it and deliberately distort the President's words? Why can't they just run an honest campaign?

It's a Weekday, So It's Time for Another Misleading Edit of an Obama Quote

At this point, getting video clips of President Obama from Republican campaigns is like getting an article pitch from Jayson Blair. It might tell a good story, but you need to run down the source and triple-check. Jim Geraghty points to our latest example, a rapid-response video from the RNC that clips Obama's speech from Oakland.

"Just like weíve tried their plan, we tried our planóand it worked. Thatís the difference. Thatís the choice in this election. Thatís why Iím running for a second term."

Pretty stupid! As Geraghty points out, with a smorgasboard of links, the economy is still horrible three-and-a-half years after Obama took office. But what was the rest of the quote?

" I'll cut out government spending thatís not working, that we canít afford, but Iím also going to ask anybody making over $250,000 a year to go back to the tax rates they were paying under Bill Clinton, back when our economy created 23 million new jobs, the biggest budget surplus in history and everybody did well. Just like weíve tried their plan, we tried our plan -- and it worked. Thatís the difference. Thatís the choice in this election. Thatís why Iím running for a second term."
...
Obama wasn't talking, at this moment, about his own economic record. He was arguing that the economy had grown and the deficit had shrunk when marginal tax rates were higher.(Of course he doesn't want to raise all those rates, which undercuts his point about the deficit.)

This is a bog-standard part of the 2012 message. "The President also believes that the top 2% should return to Clinton-era income tax rates," said David Plouffe this month, "when the United States created 23 million jobs and ran the biggest budget surplus in history."

Obama has tried a bunch of things, but Clinton-era tax rates on income over $250,000 is not among them.

So the truncated version of the Obama quote is insanely misleading.

----------

Obama was talking about Clinton's record, not his own.

"Our plan" is to go back to the Clinton era rates - and it worked when it was implemented.

The GOP plan is to go back to the GWBush economic policies. And we're all suffering the results of them.

Treason?! LMAO! More distortions and lies.

If Obama's so horrible, why do you have to lie about him?

Because there's nothing real to investigate, so the right has to fabricate allegations to have their little witchhunt. It's desperate and pathetic.

And it's part of the reason Obama will win in a landslide.

Words have meanings. You're throwing around the word "treason" but it has an actual definition.

treason
- The betrayal of one's own country by waging war against it or by consciously or purposely acting to aid its enemies.
...
Under Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution, any person who levies war against the United States or adheres to its enemies by giving them Aid and Comfort has committed treason within the meaning of the Constitution.
...
The Treason Clause applies only to disloyal acts committed during times of war.
...
The crime of treason requires a traitorous intent. If a person unwittingly or unintentionally gives aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States during wartime, treason has not occurred. Similarly, a person who pursues a course of action that is intended to benefit the United States but mistakenly helps an enemy is not guilty of treason. Inadvertent disloyalty is never punishable as treason, no matter how much damage the United States suffers.

You can learn all about it here:
http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com...

And nothing Obama has done has come anywhere close to it.
Nothing.

So you should stop throwing that word around. It is such an outrageously false allegation that if you're not lying, then you're just making yourself look exceptionally ignorant and uninformed.

Fast & Furious was a screw-up of epic proportions. But even Darryl Issa, the leader of the witch hunt, says that he doesn't have any evidence either Holder or Obama knew anything about it until after the fact and he doesn't believe either of them knew.

And the fact of the matter is that Fast & Furious was just the latest operation in a project started by the Bush DOJ - and nobody made any noise about that.

And Issa was briefed on F&F in advance and signed off on it, so his outrage now is obviously purely political.

The claims you're making are ridiculous on their face. No serious person believes them. They're nothing but political desperation by the rightwing fringe.

LOL! Funny.

I guess when you marinate yourself in paranoid conspiracies, those of us living in the reality-based universe do seem naive.

It's probably genuinely hard for you to comprehend that people DON'T believe your paranoid conspiracies, but, then again, that's part of the disorder. That's part of your Obama Derangement Syndrome.
