Lyme Disease can also cause autoimmune diseases ultimately disabling a person. Someone I know contracted Lyme in 1993 but was laughed at by their physician when he requested to be tested for it ("That's just the latest fad disease. It isn't real.") Two years later, when he nearly died, another doctor did test him for it; by then he was in the very late stage of the disease and the long-untreated Lyme Disease resulted in an autoimmune disease that disabled him. Thank the Lord that doctors take it seriously now and aggressively treat it quickly.

Franklin County is one of the highest incident rates in the country. CDC has been watching the area for several years. The hospital knows too well about it and recommends routine testing. Most people keep their yards mowed, but some of the overgrown parks and areas along the stream are a hazard. Check the kids twice when they have been out in these areas.

Certain vets in this area do not believe this is a problem and will not mention that your dog or cat should get the lyme vaccine. Our dog had it and was not tested properly by a certain vet, we took him to another vet, and he tested so positive, that he will always test positive in years to come. He is now on medication for the rest of his life because this vet did not think this area has a lyme disease problem.SO PLEASE GET YOUR ANIMAL THE LYME VACCINE.

Years ago we used to live there on Williamson Road, that whole stretch of roadway was infested with ticks. Our yards were so INFESTED with ticks,it was horrible! Some neighbors all got together and called the paper to see what we could do. We could not let our children play in our yards, or have a cat or dog due to becoming infested with these. Even spraying did not work. We could not get any help, Everyone ignore us We found out why no one would help us,a few months later Castle Greens was going to be built, those people sold the land at the same time we were looking for help, I think it was all hushed up.
I hope now they have it under control

One of the worst areas is the old overgrown Gablers Tract field. Along the stream it is marshy and infested with mosquitos. That area according to the hospital is where the west nile, encephalitis and heart worm.
