Somebody screwed up here - why the hell didnt she have PFA?

Can someone confirm: A PFA might have forced him relinquish his weapon?

"A person who is the subject of an active protection from abuse order issued pursuant to 23 Pa.C.S.§ 6108, which order provided for the relinquishment of firearms during the period of time the order is in effect. This prohibition shall terminate upon the expiration or vacation of an active protection from abuse order or portion thereof relating to the relinquishment of firearms."

Yes, the PFA would-should result in suspension of his permit and confiscation of his weapons, IF SHE OR ATTORNEY APPLIED FOR ONE!

he would have got a gun from a buddy, parent, sibling etc. if someone wants to commit a crime like that they will find a way. no pfa is going to stop them.
