It is sickening to see that this man lived, walked and communed around hundreds of people and no one questioned why so many young children came to his home. The jury found him guilty but what of the parents. There guilty of something... An 8 yr. going to this man house on numerous ocassions by herself.

exactly guilty. where were the parents on all this?? And Lauren, how dare you, point the finger at just Mr. Brown about stealing their innocence, POINT THE FINGERS AT THE PARENTS!!!! They didn't want bothered with their children, they didn't care enough about them then oh but now they want to be the 'parents' shame on them!!! they are guilty as well and i hope they have problems looking in the mirror knowing they cast stones and live in glass houses. what mr brown did was wrong, but those parents opened the door for him, gave him free reign, and might as well have done the crime themselves!!!!!

Obviously Confused must not be a parent, or he/she would know that you can't protect your children every moment of the day and night. If the parents were negligent (and no one has proven that they were), it still doesn't excuse what this man did. It sounds to me like he wanted to blame everyone else rather than take responsibility for his own actions.
No matter how well parents try to protect their children, they can't isolate them from evil. That is why it is SO important to teach your children how to react to it.
Even then, you can't guarantee that evil won't touch them, and kill their innocence. Lauren was right when she compared Willie Brown to a weed that looks so pretty but strangles and kills everything else in the garden.
Don't blame the parents. Put the blame right where it belongs: Willie Brown and the evil he practiced.

BTW, Confused. What are your connections to this case that you can say the parents of these children didn't care enough about them? Where is the proof? I suspect you are making a rash judgement and jumping to conclusions here.

Confused: When I read your comments, all I could think of was the loving parents who provide a safe home environment, and have been crushed by the victimization (of their children) by an evildoer.
Concerning parents who haven't done "the right thing", believe me, they are also subject to broken hearts and lives lived with plenty of remorse.
It is my personal opinion that Brown cannot be rehabilitated and therefore should be kept from main-stream society forever.

One of my postings was removed for absolutely no reason. It was in response to someone involved in this case and the offering of sympathy. There is a message on the voice mail from me for the person in charge at the PO. PO didn't respond.
Going by your post name, you certainly seem defensive and maybe a bit litigious?

This is just my OPINION once again....The parents are 50% responsible, 1). they should know were their kids are and 2). the stories really dont make sense if someone was molesting u and raping you so bad why continue to go back over there, at the age of ten and up u know better, in my eyes some of these minors want to smoke weed and drink, regardless mr brown is sick and should spend the rest of his miserable life in jail, but all three parties are reaponsible in my OPINION..if ur old enough to smoke weed, drink and be in a grown mans house they should have known to tell their so-called responsible parents... this is just my OPINION Mr.or Mrs. EDITER...

On the subject of Willie. He deserves what he got and then some. Put him under the jail! As a parent, I can say that you can't protect your child from everything, however, you can't allow them to just hang out on the streets either.

I post on several other Topix sites, the comments left on other newspapers are far worse, racist, crude with full frontal cursing. However, they are not deleted. Other newspapers guarentte our constitutional right to free speech. If your post is deleted, fire off an email to Topix. There is no guideline of what we can or cannot say. Someone with a small mind in a smaller cubicle I suspect reads and deletes what she chooses. But I do hope this piece of deficant gets castrated in prison with a barbell bar. A rusty one.

A rusty one. i agree.. it really makes me sick that they do that, only this paper does that. i believe they delete these comments if they dont agree with what ur saying. they also only respond when they feel like it, lets see if they respond to this issue..
