Good move! Let's hope the remaining board members will follow Orndorf's example. It is time for change.

I agree with Sally. Perhaps now board policy will be followed concerning the creation and filling of administrative positions.

I am very sad that we have lost Dr. Orndorf as a board member and president. This is a huge lost to CASD. This caring, educated gentleman(and he is a gentleman)worked tirelessly for children. Helman has big shoes to fill.

Too late. The damage is done. The entire re-work of the CASD buildings could have been done for much less than Orndorf and the Team for Change have set it motion. Stan Helman will be a huge improvement for the taxpayers' wallets.

Dr. Orndorf led the board when it made the decision to spend $6 millions on a football stadium. The same board sits in overwatch of a school district that has a track record of failure. One of the five areas, "#5. Citizens should hold educators and elected officials accountable", in the list provided by The Blue Ribbon Commission surely has not happened in CASD. Orndorf may be a jolly good fellow, but it's the lackluster results of the school board he led that matter to taxpayers.

Oh yes, a great improvement to the wallets...
That's always what it comes down to. Thanks Orwell, for driving home my point yet again that it's only about money. The arguments that come in about quality are only there because of money. Being fiscally responsible is very important, but that doesn't always mean doing things on the cheap. Most in this area would care less if a report came out saying the area scores dropped, as long as their property taxes did as well. Very, very sad...

Helman has big shoes to fill. When our son was born 6 yrs ago heard this (gentleman) use words on the phone I would only want to hear in a bar. From the sound of it he was talking to his son? Maybe he is not the caring person you think he is. Any one can work tirelessly for children when it's not your money you are spending.

Perhaps he will kick arse and take names when some Liberal proposes spending like a drunken sailor.

Ted, The post you reference was slamming Dr. Orndorf. Notice the reference to when the kid was born (he's an OBGYN you know...). That poster was responding to an earlier post. You are right about your post though, who cares if he curses like a sailor? It's just funny that you didn't realize you were both defending and criticizing the same person in your post! For the record, not only Liberal whack-jobs are pro-education. I'm very conservative, but feel that by continuing to deemphasive education in this area, we will forever be stuck with only warehousing and picker/packer jobs. Education is the cornerstone to bettering an area, and the Team for Change at least is/was trying to move us in that direction. Yes it takes money, but think of it as an investment for making this area better, more attractive to better companies and employers, and more prosperous overall. Results won't happen overnight, and there are numerous challenges, but we should in no way return to the "hold the line on taxes, all else be damned" approach that worked so well for the last 30 years. Just look at what it accomplished for the area!

Under normal circumstances the Vice President is in line to take over. Why not Ms. Sharpe? Either the Board has no confidence in her, or she has no confidence in herself. Orndorf was a good start, now finish the job and get rid of Padasak. There has to be some very serious, underlying problems for Orndorf to resign. The public has a right to know all of the facts. As usual the PO gets rolled again and the public will have to dig for the "real" story.

I too believe this is a good thing and perhaps will shake things up.....how we will see. Helman used to hold a tight rein on the purse strings. I don't want a stranglehold on projects but I do want responsible spending.
Hopefully with Orndorf gone the $4-7 million for the YMCA pools will go way back on the back burner!

Sorry to see Dr. Orndorf leave. It is a great loss. I KNOW Mr. Helman will keep things going so that our school district will be one of the best in the state. I have been reading some of the commments with interest. I believe that you people who are so critical of our district, either did not like school or have nothing else to do. Get A job!!!!!!!!!!

In the 30+ years that I have lived in this area I have seen education take a back seat to sports, church, and trips to WalMart. Many parents are making a good wage at those warehouse jobs, providing their children with all the latest gadgets. Works for them, why want more for your children??!!

Dr. Orndorf came in with the best intentions. It just seemed he got caught up in a few of the "special interest" groups that have formed. Mainly those involving the YMCA and Padasek little group.
Not sure where it all went wrong.
