This article really needs cleaned up!!

I don't usually bash the writers of the PO BUT!!!

Why was a 61 year old from Hagerstown riding a bike in Greencastle at 10:20pm and was reported by the PSP in chambersburg????

I'd be curious to know if the person on the bike had a light, reflectors, etc. I'm sure the driver of the car knew they hit something and should've stopped, but someone riding a bike that late at night could be difficult to see.

Well, Hykes Road is a large stones throw away from MD. Most people who ride bike go in loops..........Hykes Rd could easlibly be part of a loop for those who live near the state line. Yeah, 10:30PM is a little odd though

The accident took place in Antrim Township, which the article states. Antrim Township is covered by the State Police, not Greencastle Police.

I live on Hykes Road and it is not unusual in the least to see bicyclists on our road at all hours of the day! And the fact that he was from Hagerstown is not surprising at all either. We are very close to the "Mason Dixon" line....2-3 minutes by car tops! I think people need to be more concerned about the idiot who hit him!! I truly believe they know what the did and were just to scared to stop. I'm praying the gentleman recovers quickly and hopefully he can shed some light on the coward who ran him down and kept going!! And we are way out of Greencastle PD's jurisdiction......at one time they couldn't go any further out than the Auto auction.....guessing that is still the case. Never see anyone but PSP out here.

Depends on the size of the vehicle, driver's sobriety level and what was going on inside the vehicle as to whether the driver even realized he hit the guy. People drive assuming nothing is in their lane. And reaction times are extended at night.

Three times I, or anyone, could have come close to an accident with bikes on Norland Avenue around the Summit Health general area of the road, at night.

Once with a bike with NO reflectors, etc. and twice with what might have been the same bike with a tiny red light under the seat which was not apparent at first glance. I was a passenger once and alerted the driver.

The way there are lights on both sides of the road and a red light ahead makes all lights blends together in a sense with just a small, non-blinking light. Some bike in the TB Woods and there are no lights at all.

Trying to say: bikers need to install large, easily seen blinking red lights which stand apart from other lights or else they are easier hit. Use a lot of reflectors, too! Maybe they don't know and it would help to tell those persons.

Another person from a different state living in PA and not paying taxes wonder how much these welches cost the state of PA?
