I don't think these people understand that the holdings they think they had were all pretend. The profits were all on paper. They were not earning 'too good to be true' interest, their income streams were other people's savings. There is no such thing as easy money. The biggest tragedy here is that with all that money, none of these people ever bothered to educate themselves and take a close look at their investments. Its a shame.

What startles me is that we are expected to believe that ordinary people have $5 million to invest. Is the average person a millionaire, or a multimillionaire, even just on paper? Did I miss something somewhere? Never invest what you cannot afford to lose.
