Are they really moving the middle school kids into the high school next year??

Serious talks about it. Pretty sure its gonna happen. I personally dont see how this will help cut costs. Teachers positions are in trouble again. We are losing a principal at the end of the year. I personally believe we should cut art, music and library positions before we cut history, english, math and science teachers. The last thing they need to get rid of is the intervention teachers, they are really needed by those kids who have learning issues but I bet they will be cut before the gifted and talented programs. If anyone in the community is concerned please go to the board meetings.

I agree!! I'm not liking the fact my 7th grader will be exposed to all the talk of partying, sex, etc. at a high school level. As for the teachers, I think music, art, library should also be cut before intervention teachers and regular classroom teachers!! So tired of my child getting shoved into the gym to run every day and not getting music or art anyway....and the library really has never had much of a purpose, never a qualified teacher in there and most of the books my child brings home are from his classroom teacher anyway. the library seems like a hangout for athletic boosters and kitchen cooks to socialize and do personal business.
I thought you could only speak at a board meeting if you made a special request to do so before hand??
Would also like to know what's going on with administration letting a girl that is 5+ months pregnant try out for high school cheerleading??? What if she/baby gets hurt?? and is that the kind of example we want to set for our Lil Cats?? Do cheerleading uniforms come in maternity sizes now?? Do they give her the priviledge of cheering and taking maternity leave? All kids make mistakes and there are many students with children of their own that still do sports( after they have had the baby), but to let them participate while carrying a child? what kind of liability and example are we setting?? Another black eye for paint valley!!

There is so many kids becoming homeschooled , becasue of this school. I was a 10th grader, and I got homeschooled, best thing I've ever done, We've talked to some people on the board, and they're looking at Paint Valley to be closed within 3 years due to loosing kids, and money.

Yes you have to be on the agenda in order to speak but the issues with the combining the middle school and high school and the teachers whose jobs are on the line should be public info. Oh my a pregnant cheerleader, not a good example at all. I don't ever want to result in home schooling do to the fact they are athletic kids and they need socializing skills to prepare them for college. Yes they spend a lot of time in gym instead of the music or art room. We have the middle school librarian retiring and personally she needs to. She writes kids up for the stupidest stuff, for example "rattling a door knob", her stupid little write ups end up getting kids in serious trouble because of the middle school points system. If she can't handle a simple situation like this she has no business teaching. We also have teachers who have retired and have come back, they are double dipping and making as much as some administration. We have way to many janitors and a gazillion secretaries throughout the district. With all the schools on one campus we should be able to get by with one principal also. With less teachers we get more kids in each classroom which in turn is gonna cause to many problems. Cut out some administration and unnecessary positions and keep our teachers. Without them our kids can't learn. I sure hope the board can reach some kind of agreement without the kids having to sacrifice.

So sad for our kids. I think we could get rid of some office staff too. HOw many guidance counselors/assistants/secretar ies does it take? Would also like to see them tighten up some rules for the bus drivers!!!!! Why do I have to pay $30 a season for transportation fees for my child who plays a sport when there are bus drivers who bring their kids and all their friends along for the ride and get in free to the games?? Katie Chapman is the worst!! She will bring her kids and her friends kids - hey if this is your job then you need to get a babysitter and let my kid bond with his team and let the coaches say what needs to be said without the disruption of your children and their friends being on a bus for the players! and if the school is gonna let Katie bring whoever she wants then my other child is a student and could use a ride now and then too...

This should get everyone talking-

It's time folks, our county schools are getting smaller and academic programs are struggling across the board. Our local schools should be researching and discussing possible consolidations options.

I know, trust me, I know, TRADITION.

I will let you know this first hand, if our leaders and school board members don't at least look at this option, we may not be able to have any tradition within 3-5 years, and that is based off data and true facts. School funding for rural schools will continue to get smaller and smaller......this is a serious issue....just look at the facts and data.....PV numbers continue to decrease for various reasons such as; open enrollment, home schooling, community schools, etc. School choice is REAL and this option will continue to decline student enrollment.
PV school board members, administrators and teachers better take note......KIDS and PARENTS have choices now, and those choices effect funding. As a community, we need to step up and have serious discussions on how to secure PV’s future or be prepared for consolidation.

I know this is scary, but it will happen one day trust me…

Paint Valley, Adena and Huntington consolidate(s) into one….Maple Leaf Warriors.

Well the 6 month pregnant girl has made the cheerleading team...and is now on maternity leave until the baby is born the end of July. This is not gossip as her mother proudly announced it on facebook. I agree with "Parent's" statement above...another black eye for PV!! I think this girl and her mother have their priorities out of whack...do you want to be a cheerleader or a Mom? It is no one's fault but her own that she got pregnant yet all the cheerleaders get to pay with their reputation. Thanks cheer coaches, athletic director, administration and school board for making Paint Valley Proud....No pride at PV anymore - pathetic

I fail to see how it should be your concern where their priorities lay. Our society would be a lot better off without people going out of their way to judge. Clean your own back yard before worrying about your neighbors'.

Not concerned with their priorities or judging, saying it's out of whack is my opinion and I'm entitled to it. There are many issues with all sports, staff (and don't even get me started on basic education) that I think coaches and administration have dropped the ball on. So if making people aware of what's going on and having personal experiences and facts to back it up AND teaching my kids to respect and support others no matter what they do AND protecting the good morals I have taught my kids AND trying to teach them that life is not fair and people are gonna make really bad decisions for themselves that might drag you thru the mud with them just by being on the same team AND that it's ok that this 'team' will have to do a majority of the fund raisers and hard work for EVERYone to wear uniforms and have supplies while half the kids are off on maternity leave or playing other sports (but are gonna collect the same award of a varsity letter at the end of the year) while the actual 'workers' get no extra recongnition of this hard work......yeah, I would say I'm cleaning the trash in my own backyard......too bad not everyone is doing the same.....just sitting back judging who is judging. You're right, You FAIL

Let's start with eliminating a lazy elementary principal that gets paid 75,000 dollars a year to do barely nothing....but do work that involves his other two jobs while he should be doing schooling.

I'm guilty! I have called the school to talk to the principal about the water dept mainly because he has no idea how to manage that either and with his wonderful aunt only being able to work 3-7 (which is actually 3:30-6:20 depending on how long the line at subway is AND what's going on at her church that night) you HAVE to reach him at school or the pizza shop! RIDICULOUS!!
Wouldn't hurt us to replace the high school principal who is just a plain idiot and the middle school principal who doesn't even have a principal certificate anyway. Another person that should go is Mrs. Pelletier - She should be working on schedules and college apps for the students NOT FEEDING THE TEENAGE DRAMA and trying to get everyone to "just be friends"! Why should my child take ANY kind of guidance, counseling or advice from a women that has been passed up over and over for a principal's position? Obviously, knowing the losers the school board has hired, they know putting her in this position would be a disaster..maybe its the fact that she has already been caught in having affairs with other married staff members and probably doesn't even know who the father of her last child is! NOT the person I want "guiding" my child!
for sure

what about art and music? are they going away? the kids are saying other things are going also. Did I commit to a town that is losing their school. No child left behind states you can choose a different school that is not sub standard.
Concerned.

Yes, they are cutting art and music, but the art teacher is moving into a real teaching job and the music teacher is moving into the high school to be the band teacher.

They eliminated a principal position but just moved the ms principal to another position. So how that will save money who knows. that salary would have paid for 2 teachers!

I heard they are getting rid of 15 people, bus drivers, teachers, and office people. But it won't help, with all these kids being homeschooled, they sad paint valley will likley be shut down in a few years.
