The data show:
LB's 1st Council district (Garcia) had the highest 2012 violent crime total. His district had an average of between one and two violent crimes against persons each day in 2012.
Adjoining the 1st district, Council districts 6 (Andrews) and 2 (Lowenthal) averaged more than one violent crime each day in 2012. Council district 9 (Neal) averaged slightly over over one violent crime each day.
LB's 5th Council district (Schipske) had the lowest 2012 violent crime total. Her district averaged just under one violent crime roughly every five days. LB's 3rd Council district (DeLong) has the second lowest 2012 violent crime total, roughly 60% higher than the 5th district.
These data were tabulated using LBPD's officially reported crime data but the tables below were not produced by the City of Long Beach or by LBPD. The crime totals were aggregated from LBPD Reporting Districts to represent Council District boundaries as closely as possible. Council boundaries and LBPD reporting districts aren't perfectly congruent but for statistical purposes, they are very close.
