As a taxpayong American Citizen I find this truly frightening and appalling. Shameless power hungry robbers with badges have no discretion. Another strike I will never forget

These are all the same charges that should've been brought against ex-Blue Lake Sgt Darcie Seal....with added charges for trading guns for drugs and for one gun being used in an attempted murder. So only male officers get charged for crimes? Oh wait....this is Del Norte County. Only in Humbodt do dirty cops NOT get charged!

I wonder if this deputy is a College of the Redwoods graduate. Seals graduated from there and I was just wondering if that was part of the course circulum..."stealing from the evidence room" and how to "stock your home drug supply".

Sorry Redwood Academy, but you have to admitt some of your graduates have left a stink by their actions and one wonders how they made it through.

Hopefully the Del Norte DA will have more sense than the Humboldt DA and this guy will go to jail for his crimes.

Evidently the Times Standard pulled it. Seems whenever a thread starts to get heated they pull it off. I would think they would just pull the offending comment and not the entire thread. So much for freedom of speech.

I've noticed that numerous local forums pull threads relating to dirty cops due to pressure from their local law enforcement groups.

Unless something like the BART murder makes the national scene, the local small town news media back off really quick because reporters like Thadeus Greenson are known by the local law enforcement and are therefore subject to harassment by dirty leo‘s.

Anyone out there who doesn’t believe that the “thin blue line” is alive and thriving is a moron. That’s not to say all cops are bad butt there are a lot of them and people cover for them for a verity of reasons.

Anecdotal evidence, where’s the original article?

I want to give DN Co. Sheriffs kudos for going after one of their own. I don't know the details, and I don't know if there are more charges coming on Garcia or any of his cohorts, but policing the police has to be difficult for them, but it's a necessary part of the job.

One dirty cop can cast aspersions on the entire department. In fact, on the entire profession.

As part of the sentencing,(Assuming guilt) I hope his ability to be a policeman anywhere else is permanently revoked. And I hope if there are any other dirty cops with him, that they all get the permanent boot, plus jail time.

Thanks DNSO for doing the right thing on this one.

Hey SGT CCPD-

If your name is accurate, you should know better than spouting opinions regarding this case, especially, given the rampant Change of Venue motions being lobbied at this time.

How about we all keep our mouths shut and minds open and let the justice system do it's job.

The Court of Public Opinion is costing our county hundreds of thousands dollars-

Is your attitude the same when it comes to the public when they are arrested? If your neighbor is arrested for child molestation, running a house -of -ill -repute or operating a terrorist bomb -making factory, wouldn’t you want to know?

This is my opinion regardless of who the accused is...Justice is Blind.

Everyone is innocent, until proven guilty. Doesn't matter who is the accused. There is plently of time to judge when the judicial process is completed.

When we use the any media to prosecute a person, we sully the juris process that has been in place in this country for centuries.

Let's keep our opinions to ourselves so every person accused can receive a fair local trial.

Chances are they will get a change of venue. Let's just hope it's not Humboldt County. We all saw what happened when Gallegos was handed dirty cop Sgt Darcie Seal on a platter. He brushed all her crimes (VERY similar to Garcia's) under the rug to go after what he considered a bigger fish (the Chief...her husband). He allowed Seal to commit further crimes by committing perjury and didn't even give her as much as a slap on the wrist. In the end Gundersen and Seal were both free without having to pay for any of their crimes against the people of Blue Lake. Let's hope this doesn't happen in the Garcia case. And IF there are others involved that they also be prosecuted.

Innocent until proven guilty is a good standard for sure.

I fail to ssee how exposing opinions and airing the known facts in the case, and even hypothesizing in a forum or in a paper is going to sway the case... People will talk, gossip is normal.

Information will be free.

I respect you "opinion" butt would only agree to suppress the news if it's done equally. I look at all the people who have suffered because they were arrested butt never convicted. Especially people who can’t get jobs because they were arrested and/or charged with violating the law when in fact no crime was committed/violated.

No, until everyone is treated equal, I want the media to report on dirty cops because without the media,“the thin blue line” will persist.
