"Measure N also imposes a mandatory 2 percent annual increase in pay regardless of job performance or economic climate"

You see, they sell it as a "living wage" increase, then stick in the above union-tradition of encouraging poor performance.
Nothing is much more of a morale killer than seeing a fellow employee who does half the work you do, or is just plain incompetent, get the same pay. This is Suja Lowenthal's world.

Whether you're a democrat or a republican, if you have any experience working or leading a business, you know this state-enforced policy is a disaster.

As Ben Franklin once noted, once a democratic nation discovers they can vote money for themselves, that will herald the end of the republic.

What's worse is we have imported citizens of a poor, mismanaged nation, who are going to vote in their national interests, regardless of what outcome it brings to the host nation, yet this is encouraged by the present administration.

It's unfortunate he grew up in Hawaii, and missed out on seeing more of the United States when he was younger. At least he'd have an idea of what exactly he's destroying, instead of some abstract concept of gun-toting bible thumpers.

I knew there was something attached to this proposition. Don't get me wrong, I am for the hard working man and woman. I have worked for minimum wage myself but it took years to work up the ladder. I worked in hamburger stands where I moped the floor as well as handled the cash register. I worked up to manager with long hours and learned what 'salary' was. Anyway my point, it that I was suspicious of something being attached to this proposition. I am aware that seniority counts with some jobs, especially union. I have been a union employee myself. I was also a government employee when they had 'equal opportunity' and that was an embarrassment. I worked in a govt hospital and the equal opportunity only served to keep employees from losing their jobs, their job performance did not count. The first thing they cried, was discrimination. It wasn't discrimination when a medical clerk wears a Walkman while admitting a patient. Other govt employees just did the bare minimum knowing they would pass their job performance evaluation because of 'equal opportunity' so that is all they did.
The hard working men and women of today are doing everything they can to get by and many people have to work two jobs to make ends meet. I know I did and still go to school. That was rough but I did it.
When I completed two years of college, my wages increased. Once I saw that, I kept the job I was at and put in time enough to build seniority and did not abuse my sick days. Yes, that was rough also but I was supporting a family then and had to make them understand and had my daughter contribute to the house hold funds with her work. That was then, and this is now, not much has changed except more union backing. Although I benefited from the union (at one time), the union dues kept going up, more than I could afford. Those losing their jobs were the only ones benefiting from the union. Most of them did not have the seniority, but I was paying for their losing their jobs.
There are always SPECIAL INTEREST groups attached to any voter proposition if you read the proposition and who supports it. Calif is proof of that.
You got what you voted for so don't cry the blues now.
