I went to the park, fished the trout pond, and fished the stream that fed the park. Danny Gregson, my across-the-street neighbor practically lived there during the summers.

Great memories being shared. I was taken there in the 40's & 50's. Caught crayfish with chicken bones and a string. Grew up in So. San Gabriel, Eastside Dairy on No. San Gabriel Blvd.. Horses, chickens, ducks, and kids running around. It really was out in the "country" then. Besides the trout farm, there was a pheasant farm across Rosemead Blvd. at about where the Whittier Narrorows Dam is now. Back then, El Rancho HS football team was unbeatable (except by Montebello). They never actually played. "Thanks for the memories."

I moved to our house on Durfee Ave. in 1962. It was directly across from Durfee elementary and I went daily to hang out at Streamland Park. Those were great times at the park and catching crawdads at the entrance across from 7/11. I too would love to see old photos of the area because this was a great time in my life.

I lived on Amistad Avenue, I believe we were 3 houses from the corner, and our house backed up to the parkway. I was three years old when my parents moved (1960's) to Hacienda Heights. I have vivid memories of going to Streamland Park over the years with my parents and older sister. I was born in 1957, my sister in 1954, and I believe she started school out in Pico Rivera. When my younger sister was born in July 1960, my parents decided it was time to move to a larger home, and I believe we moved around October 1960. My parents sold our house to my dad's first cousin and they raised their family there. All my cousins attended school in the area Since I was only three, some memories are a bit faded. However, I vividly remember an incident that occurred on the train that circled the park. I was on it with my mother and older sister when it derailed. we were on a car that had bench seats facing outward and I jumped off the train when it detrailed. To this day I have a bit of a phobia over trains. For some reason, I have thought many times of the simple pleasure of going to that park, and remember it not being too far away from our home. It's possible that we continued to go to Streamland Park over the years even after we moved to Hacienda Heights. I am glad to have found a site and discussion on the park specifically. I do not know if our family had pictures, but I imagine we did, and possibly even some movies of visits there. My younger sister bought my parents home in Hacienda Heights and there's probably photos stored somewhere. Now, I am challenged to find any. I have been thinking of this place so much recently that I decided to search for any information. Thank you all for providing me with confirmation that this place did exist! What simple times we lived in then.

My brother and I would walk from our hood, near Garvey Park in South San Gabriel (Now Rosemead) to Streamland Park when we were like 8 and 9 yrs old in the 1950's! I'm guessing it was like 5 miles.
We probably cashed in soda bottles to get some change to go on a few rides and get a hot dog and soda!
I remember one day I lost my lunch while on the swing ride, 3 or people on the ride behind me got some of it too! lol.Great memories,
here is a post with a video of photos from Streamland Park back in the day!

DANG !!!
After living on Banta, we moved to a house on Pico Vista. Near the corner of Washington and Passons there was a miniature golf place with old arcade machines and a hamburger place called Humptys Dump (!).
Coincidentally....the hamburger place on Beverly and Rosemead was Beanies during the 50's and early 60's. Along with my "career" at Streamland, I worked there too ! and the place had changed it's name to "Brides Hamburgers" during that time.
PR used to be a great place and I couldn't imagine having grown up anywhere else......

Hi
Hey Keith, the hamburger place you're talking about on whittier Bl.and Passons was called Omegas,I remember because we used to stop there on our way home from H.S. and by the way next to western auto there was an auto garage called "Dannies auto" a mechanic who worked there years later became my brother-in-law,small world!
Paul, I'm so surprised that people remember Arnold the cross guard, we as kids used to go to his house for holloween, he and his wife were good people! I still remember as kids how careful he was with all the kids when we would cross the street to go to durfee E.S. on days with heavy fog.
Good memories.

Hey Lupe,

I worked at Western Auto, right across the street from Omegas or Hickory Hop. I think I remember Dannies Auto.

Hickory Hop was there first...things changed and Omega came afterward. Humpty's Dump and the mini golf were near Washington.
I've lived in No. Cal now for the last 37 years but was down in PR last month. That area of Whittier / Durfee / Passons is unrecognizable from the old days.
Ahhhh Streamland Park ! Running those old heavy metal rides....great friends....and a carefree youth !
