Wow. I didn't realize the toxicology reports had come back already... oh wait! They didn't! Sounds like you don't know what you are talking about... Maybe you should spend a little more time trying to be compassionate for the two sets of parents who have to bury their daughters and less time making reckless statements for which you have no basis.

No stretch of Lambert is in LM. Leffingwell is the N. boundary. This took place in either unincorporated Whittier or LH.

I was with them just an hour before it all happened....3 of the 7 people in the car are my friends, two of which were the girls who passed... My heart and prayers are with both of their families at this very difficult time...

They must have been flying and just lost control to do that kind of damage with a little car like that.
Wish young people were more responsible.
So sad.
The simpleminded gate keeper strikes again. A CHP Officer would not speculate like that. They are professionals. Not a dimwit like you.

Yanira was one of my lil sisters best friends. People make mistakes but it doesn't make them bad people. I loved her like my lil sister. She deserves nothing but good memories about her. We'll always miss her and never forget her. She took a piece of all of our hearts with her. We love you Yanira and always will. I know there's an angel in heaven watching over us now. R.I.P. YANIRA. Your memory will always live on. WE LOVE YOU!

Very sad, senseless, unfortunate incident. Well Polly I was there immediately after the collision occurred and alcohol was a factor in this collision. That's what makes this so senseless. Everybody should know alcohol is the contributing factor in a high percentage of collision that occur after 2am. But what's most tragic is that two families lost two young loved ones. As far as Alex is concerned, glad to hear your out of the hospital but very CS of you to run from the scene and leave your friends there dead. Way to be a man. It took good people to catch you and bring you back to the scene. Scared enough to run alright.

Almost everyone here has posted very valid comments. As a parent of a girl who is basically the same age & was at a party that very night, this hits home. We awoke at about 3:55 am without power (to our house & street lights). Then we heard the sirens & immediately checked to see if our daughter was asleep. Thank goodness she was. My heart goes out to the families who (for whatever reason or cause) lost precious, irreplaceable people. My heart goes out to the young man who will have a long recovery and perhaps a lifetime of physical pain, not to mention all survivors' emotional pain.
Those who seem less compassionate may seem callous but they do care when they have to respond to these kinds of tragedies and want people to make the best choices.
We may never know everything that happened or the reason that there were too many people in the car, perhaps she was trying to do a good deed and drive people home but the laws of physics cannot be denied... Regardless of intentions or reasons, that amount of damage (taking out a power pole & more) cannot happen without excessive speed and/or excessive weight. This is not said to point the finger because everyone has broken at least one rule of safety at one point or other if they've driven very long but its important for these tragedies to not be in vain. I hope that all young people take mortality seriously when it comes to driving.
While it is so hard to see any good in these kinds of things it should still be considered that it still could have been even worse... There were no other vehicles (additional passengers) involved and the car did not plow into some child's bedroom.
My heart goes out to the little girl who has lost her mommy. I pray God's blessings on her and those who will be taking care of her.
Please, young people, learn from this, PLEASE, for the sake of your loved ones and the loved ones of others who may be affected by your actions.

Grumpy's Friend, you are grieving right now so expressing your anger is natural but unless you are in a given situation, you can only guess what you would do. It is not likely that he would have been able to save her unless the only care that "she" needed was direct pressure to an accessible bleeding vein. Most likely, she had severe internal injuries and probably would not have been saved if they had crashed into a trauma unit. Head injuries are very probable when safety restraints are not used. I was not there so I am not stating "known facts" just logical conclusions based on what I have read (and know from other, personal experience).
The survivors need a reason to keep surviving, they will already be dealing with survivor's guilt and have to endure the grieving process themselves.
Death brings out the best in people or the worst in people... This is so epic that people really need to try to bring out their best.

I'm mother of three kids and As I read this comments tears are coming out. My condolences for the family and all my respects. For the little girl who now needs more love, For the mothers, fathers, sibling and families that are crying for their love ones, because for no matter how old your kids are they still your children. I have seen so many accidents on Lambert, we need to fight as a whole community to bring the speed down. It seems that it happen too often accident after accidents. Stop Been so judgmental that kid that run from the scene was scared for give him he is already in so much pain, Do it in the memory of the two ladies that are gone try to have good memories and be in peace with each other. Those people that point that alcohol was an issue stop making those comments until you have proof and even though what it's done , It's done. I don't drink but I hear old people and young this will never happen to me. Pray for the kids that are alive because those moments of that accident will be less painful , these people need counseling to help with the grieving don't leave your friend behind even if he run from the accident support each other. Pray for those souls to rest in peace.

BTW I do not live in El Segundo, I live in La Habra (that's how I heard the sirens and how it was that I was one of those who lost power due to the accident). (El Segundo s a little too far away to have noticed anything. I'm just new to this.

Ycan - There is little I understand about what you wrote because of poor grammar, but I do want to inform you that alcohol was a factor. Passengers in the car tried to get the keys from the driver. Unfortunately they didn't win and many lives have been destroyed. Very sad and unfortunate.
