I'll be glad when this week is over. Not just because the trials and tribulations of launching a brand-new daily newspaper will be behind us, but because we'll be able to stop talking about ourselves.

Hey David, you might feel better if you spend less time writing crybaby pieces, and more time getting an easy-to-find website for your new paper!
If I was your boss, and read this story, I'd call you on the carpet so fast! You don't have the time or money to cry, so knock that crap off! You're lucky to have a JOB! Who do you think you are?? Get back to work!! No more crying!!

Could you imagine the Washington Post printing: "Wah! Everyone's being mean to us about our new Watergate story! Wah wah! They won't stop talking about us! Wah! Wah!"

There's no crying in baseball, or the editor's desk, but the Long Beach Register violates this creed from the get-go. The Press Telegram may indeed suck many a time. They may make huge mistakes that contribute to the erosion of the quality of life of this city--but at least their often misguided editors don't make themselves up their own little Soapbox Cry Station to annoy it's readers with unapologetic whinery.

If this is the thematic undertow of the Editorial desk of the new Long Beach Register, I'm sorry, but I'd rather read another of Grobaty's "we're not fat" pieces. He may be uncommonly fat, but at least he lashes out at the people trying to help him, rather than falling back in his chair bawling, "it's true! Wah! I can't stop eating! Wah! Waah!"

Even if you're flawed, nobody likes a crybaby.
