Maybe karma finally caught up with Mario?

We'll see. I've been in these situations, have called the police around here and get tired of waiting for them to come!!! It takes hours sometimes. I'm not blaming them, there are so many of them and so many jerks out there, acting up!!! I'd like to see law enforcement give more details onthis one. My family has also been "terrorized" by a bad neigbor who played his music all day long. He gave his kid a car, loaded it with sound gear, and then the KID terrorized us with his music. Some very good people moved as a result. Perhaps what you are seeing is the frustration some people feel from having to live with people who have no moral compass, who couldn't care less about anyone else, and are devoted to making themselves comfortable no matter what their neighbors think of them. I wasn't there, but I see this thing the way others have stated. I pray I am wrong. I agree that we need more information.

I DO find it disturbing that Gibbs drove up (so the music had to be audible for quite a ways) and had to ASK Mario to turn the music down. He only reached in AFTER the music was turned up after he'd left and he had to come back. Obviously, Mario didn't give a flying fig about bothering anyone else in the neighborhood. While this does NOT give anyone the right to run over him, it shows how he thinks. i.e. "I can play my music as loud as I want, who cares if the rest of the neighborhood doesn't want to hear it!" I'm sure Mario didn't anticipate what would happen next. I don't suppose anyone could have, but it goes a long way to illustrate the point that perhaps it's best to be polite and considerate of others. Sometimes our actions set in motion tragic events. If he had kept his stereo turned down, he'd be alive today. Yes, I think you may be right. You can't see the outcome if you're loaded at 3 p.m., climb on someone's hood and roof and try to "get at them" while they attempt to drive away. So many of this things are started by clueless people with no concern for others.

If these losers were forced to work 8-10 hours a day, there would be a lot less crime! Ummm, what does all of that have to do with this guy getting ran over?

Gibbs went and turned down the music to the truck and when Mario came outside to see what was going on, the man ran him over when he was trying to ask about his stero being turned down!!!!!!! Mario was the peacekeeper of all his friends. He has a lovely wife and beautiful kids. Have some respect. make sure you get the story right before you open your mouths. I don't really think anyone was conserned about his "lovely wife or his beautiful kids".All the way around however you look at ,from whichever side you are on it was handled way wrong!!!

Okay, it sounds like some people here know about the man who died. Questions: Was he drinking the day of the incident? Was it his truck that had been booming the music? Did he turn the "music" back up or someone else? Who turned it back up? Did he jump on the guy's car? How many people were in the house? Were they drinking in the house? How far away did Gibbs have to come to ask to turn the "music" down? Sounds like that's your cause, right there... So a man is dead because he or his friend wanted to play their music loud. Smart.

1. The victim had been drinking and playing his music LOUD. Not for the first time, I might add. Alcohol probably impaired his senses so that the music didn't seem too loud to him, and yes, it was his truck that was booming the music. 2. This Gibbs person,(don't know where he came from) but he chose to drive and not walk, which indicates that he wasn't just right next door so the music had to have been hecka loud, asks the victim (not politely, I'm sure) to turn down the music. The victim complies until Gibbs is out of sight...then he childishly turns it back up again. 3. Gibbs comes back, only now, he's really pissed. A nasty argument ensues, during the course of which Gibbs exits his vehicle, walks to the victim's truck (which is parked with stereo blasting and doors open in the victim's driveway), reaches in and turns the music off. 4. The victim is enraged at this show of defiance and chases Gibbs back to his vehicle. Gibbs attempts to drive off but the victim jumps onto the hood of Gibb's car attempting to stop him. A horde of people come piling out of the house ready to "defend" their drunken friend. 5. Gibbs is naturally terrified at the mob and once more attempts to escape by flooring it. The victim loses his grip and is flung off the hood of the car into the street where he strikes his head. The End.

Wow. That's the way I'd envisioned it, having been in that situation myself. Still, I wasn't there and I'm looking for an official evaluation of the facts. If this is what, in fact, happened... I say too bad for the boomer boy and a big raspberry to local media, who painted this guy a "hero" right off the bat. Didn't smell right. More facts please...

Very interesting. If this is what happened it's time to stop referring to the loud music guy as "the victim." Let's try "perpetrator."

Just so ya'all know, local media sucks around here so don't count on them for the news or any sort of truth. What you'll get is what you got: a lot of soft focus shots of the RIP t-shirts, sidewalk memorial, grieving tatooed wife crying about her "babies," etc. What you haven't heard is anything about WHY this happened, no one is talking for the so-called "suspect" and all you're getting is that spoon-fed junk the Bee and KCRA are peddling. Truth in journalism died about ten years ago folks... what you get now is Dr. Phil. This is an interesting story, I hope some serious minded young journalist gives it some time and picks it apart a little... obviously people are interested. Save the memorial car was stories for Oprah.

Have there been any more stories on this anyone can add to this forum. I'm getting my news on this story here, it seems. I want to know if this Gibbs fellow has talked or if an attorney is talking for him. More information would be nice as you guys are saying. I, too, believe there is more to this than the "peacemaker runs into street to save friend/boombox and gets run down" angle.

Aside from the vigil and memorial car wash, this case really dropped out of the news. Where are the FACTS???

The facts in this case are rather unsavory, and imagine it'll be quite awhile before we get the truth.

This happened in Floridan last week. Sound familiar?
Guns drawn after man complains about loud music coming from car
By Dan Scanlan, My Mandarin Sun
Police said guns came out after a 25-year-old man repeatedly requested that another man lower the volume of loud music emanating from a car parked in an apartment complex at 3270 Ricky Drive. The man in the car complied, but things escalated when the volume was cranked again, and the man complained again.
The victim told police he asked the man in the blue Ford Taurus to lower the volume around 7 p.m., and everything seemed fine until the driver moved right in front of the victim's apartment and blasted the music. The two exchanged words before the Taurus drove away.
A few minutes later, the Taurus returned with another man in an Oldsmobile Aurora, and five people got out of both, one yelling at the victim that he was a "punk" and "I am gonna kill [you]," according to the police report. One of the men reached into a black bag and pulled out two guns, pointing them at the victim. The victim ran into his apartment and shut the door as one of the men ran to the back door with another gun. When the victim grabbed his own gun, the men jumped into both cars and drove off.

What is wrong with people?!! Is everyone on drugs? Or drunk? People have such a warped sense of what's right. Someone ends up dead because of a fight over loud music?! I'm beyond disgusted. Like those teen girls who ambushed a former friend in the grandmother's house, and had five of them beating the crap out of her. They thought it was ok because they were doing it one at a time!
