I think the city needs to focus on street flooding before knocking down something that protects us from worse flooding then ever imaginable. The flood wall removal is one of the stupidest things i ever seen on topix.
Amen, I think we have all been stuck on a side of town and can't get home or to work when the viaducts flood. There has to be a way this problem can be fixed. It would be so much easier for the viaducts to be filled in and people just drive over the railroad tracks.

Yeah that makes sense. The viaducts flood sometimes but trains come through everyday. Some times 2 and 3 at a time. How we gonna get to work when a train is on the tracks?

Would love to see Huntington tear down this eyesore!!It's such a shame our city sits beside a wonderful river and everyone in the city drives past it everyday without even seeing or using it!! I know there was talk several years ago about the cost but never hear anything else about it!
The whole damn town is an eyesore. Here's an idea. I say we build the flood wall around the rest of the city. Make sure it's good and tight and then fill it full of water.

if you ever lived through a major flood you would change your mind.

In 1993-1996 somewhere around that time water was up on the floodwall several feet. If the wall had not been effective the north side of town would have been swimming in the Ohio River.

I think it is amusing how these people with no construction or engineering skills say what should be done.

It cracks me up when doctors and realtors try to own office buildings and commercial real estate. They run the maintenance crews And contractors telling them how to do their jobs when they know nothing themselves about mechanics or building systems.

They always fail.

Learn about flood prevention and engineering before you throw put some ignorant idea about tearing down the floodwall.

The floodwall is two feet higher than the water was in 1937. That's a lot of water! They called that the hundred year flood. If history repeats itself there should be another one within twenty years.

well why don't we leave this one for twenty years and won't have to build another one for a hundred years.

Because we will still have this ugly monolith to look at, while it provides a visual barrier for the bums and rednecks, and goose crap.

I hate Red Lobster. Think about it, it is a seafood place, and you mentioned the biscuits? Their food sucks. Tear it down with the wall!
Yes I mentioned the biscuits, they are fabulous....lmao! However, I have only been there one time, maybe that one night was a good biscuit night...lmao!!

It was done in Louisville, KY...no reason it couldn't be done here.Tearing down portions of the floodwall and making the river open to downdown with a removable floodwall would be beneficial to the city.

Irishmob, it's pointless trying to have a conversation with these dead beat Citizens of Huntington. These same people probably didn't want the mall or the interstate coming to Huntington either?!

Of course they didn't , that would signify change. They already think that Huntington is Utopian and does need fixing. They are way too cool for any type of change. Proof is in the surroundings.

Put your name in the hat for city council, maybe you can "fix" everything you think needs fixed. Until then, keep on bitchin', we're all good at that.

I remember that, I lived in Glenwood at the time and all of Rt. 2 flooded, it's not a joke when people lose everything because of "a little water".

Daily Horoscope for May 19

Scorpio

There are days when you feel you can't say or do anything right, but happily this isn't one of them. In fact, it's a wonderful day in which everything goes well and it's remarkably easy to get on well with whoever happens to be around. Not that you want to spend your time with just any old person. You'd much rather get together with some close friends or that special someone in your life.
