Four day work weeks should be a universal standard.

I am employed by a Sheriff's Dept. and work four 10 hour days. 16 uniformed employees work Sun. through Wed. while the other 16 work Wed. through Sat. I do have an assigned car which I take home: however; after going to the 10 hour day I would not want to work anything else. Most of the highwyay departments in our County also work four 10 hour days during the late Spring, Summer, and early Fall months; returning to five 8 hours days during the SNOW months. 40 hours is 40 hours; wheather it's five 8 hour days or four 10 hour days. Having regular days off allows me to schedule Doctor appointments, banking tasts, grocery shopping, projects around the house, etc. without feeling rushed or using vacation, sick, or personal time which shorts the work staff. I also gained an additional 52 days off a year. I would suggest spliting your days off so that the office may remain open 5 days a week, if possible, to serve the needs of the public. As an example; if you employee 6 people, three would have Sat., Sun., and Mon. off and the other three would be off Fri, Sat., and Sun. Your scheduled days off would be determined by seniority.

This already IS a USA UNIVERSAL STANDARD. People are there 5 days but work, possibly, 4 days at the most. No big deal. "What's yellow and sleeps six". A PENNDOT truck. Insert different color, number of persons, and you get the idea. You want to save big bucks. EVERY OTHER DAY (10 hr. days): Mail delivery, military flight training, school, and the list could go on and on. Actually accomplish something while there.
