lately i have being reading the newspapers and i can see that aberdeen is turning into a violent city.murders , prostitution and drugs make this small city of 14,000 people a very unpleasant place to live and to raise a family.at night is unsafe to be outside the house. also to mentioned the sex offenders that also live in aberdeen. and the only thing i have to do is read the newspaper.small city big hell this is aberdeen.

I highly disagree. I live in Aberdeen. I know what goes on. I stay on top of current events in town and the latest news. There are drugs and very little prostitution but no more than other towns. Deal with it. It's not abad place to live.

Walking through Union Street in the mid afternoon, you see so many things which u shouldn't see in wealthy city. Drug addicts raiding the streets stoned, dozens of homeless people begging for money and a bunch of sad people. Iv been to so many cites (inside and outside UK) and this has to be the worst place ever!!!

I have lived in Hoquiam (next to Aberdeen) my entire life! Ya, it has changed alot since the 80's, but its still a nice area. Its not that unsafe. There are a couple of small neighborhoods giving this area a bad name. That isn't fair to the parts of the town that are pleasant and enjoyable. You really need to come and see the town before making a judgement of it. Most of my family was born and raised here....... they love it!! I also have 2 children of my own. We also just enrolled our oldest child into the public school district here. Which I also went to growing up. I feel comfortable here. There are way worse areas in Washington! Like for instance... parts of Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle... and others. Give the Harbor a chance!

I have been here for over twelve years. And this place is not all that bad. You have a few people who are drug addicts and prostitutes and racist, but that does not mean everyone in Aberdeen is like that. In fact most people I hang out with is all against that kind of behavior. Abedeen is a wonderful place to live.

Don't blame the whole town for a few clowns that are here. And some of the homeless are physically fit to stand on a corner and beg should go and get a job.

Ugh! Aberdeen sucks big time. Their high school burned down and a bond to rebuild it actually failed. If you're white and stoned it's probably okay otherwise stay far away.

Um no. The bond did not fail, and the school has since been rebuilt and reopened this fall.

Um yes. The bond most certainly failed. With a 65% no vote! 2/3 of Aberdeen voted against raising the money to build a new high school. Probably worried kids with educations would want to leave their dump of a town.

But you are correct 5 years!!!! later the school was rebuilt.

I have lived in Aberdeen for the last 16 years and I must say all and all its has been a safe town. No there are no high tech, high paying jobs here and yes most of the mills are going down but this is such a lovely area to live. Only places I would consider unsafe is at night around the transit station and east Aberdeen called "felony flats" by the locals. Prostitution does not run rampant here nor does murder but a major problem is drugs. They seem to be everywhere here, if you go to downtown Aberdeen in general around the Timerland regional library and transit staion then you will see what I mean. Also the local college has been doing some major upgrades so the guy who implied we dont care about education needs to come see Aberdeen before he makes such moronic comments and I am neither white nor stoned and I quite enjoy living here.

I hope you realize that school has been rebuilt, and is now standing. In fact I am a student there right now! I am typing this from my digital Communications class!
So obviously the bond did not fail.

Besides for all of you bad mouthing it, try living here. We have a few druggies and such just like I'm sure many small towns do.(At least most of the small towns I have been too. If you actually look around you can find those sort of people.)
It's a great town, we have everything we need. Maybe not everything we want but it's still a satisfying place to live. We have good people and places We have wonderful schools and education system.

LOL, I've lived in Aberdeen. Left when the school bond failed so miserably. If all you know is the craphole that is Aberdeen or a third world country I'm sure Aberdeen seems like a nice place to live.

i have lived in Aberdeen all my life and murders and drugs and prostitution has been going on since i was a child, since i was about 15 i will agree Aberdeen has got worse but to say that u cant go out your front door is a lot of crap yes you walk down Aberdeen city centre and there is a lot of homeless people and supposedly stoned people lying about but maybe if Aberdeen city councill housed them instead of all the refugees then they wouldn`t be lying about. I live in Glasgow the murder capital of Scotland and do feel safer walking about down here but if your not in the scene of drugs and crime why would any harm come to you. Every city in the world has its problem but the comments about Aberdeen are very far fetched i love my city and everywhere has its problems so get a life and go out your house no harm will come to you i can gaurantee you that

Whatever. I've lived in Seattle, Redmond and Montesano. Aberdeen is a better place without you in it because you do not care to support or help make changes necessary to "make it a nice place to live".

i lived in aberdeen for many years and my sister, mother, grandparents, and a whole bunch of my family still live there. my dad would except he was sent to prison for drugs, but he did used to live there--under the bridge. my mom is an ex drug addict. my uncle is an addict. my sister, etc. growing up everyone of my friends parents were drug addicts and the mothers were prostitutes. a kid we used to take care of and called my brother used to live there but he was sent to prison for murder, although i never heard of a whole lot of murders growing up. when i lived there, only two kinds of people existed: people who owned businesses and the people who worked them. The well-off and the poor. the well-off lived a life where they didnt see a whole lot of the bad side of aberdeen and the rest of us were too ignorant to realize that it was considered bad. Small town mentality. i was the only one i know of to have escaped Aberdeen and it's dark ways. i now live in vancouver, i have no and never have had any addictions, i am a store manager, i have a family, 4 vehicles and my husband owns a business. i thank god every day for what i have now. myself and my siblings were placed in foster homes just like several other kids i knew. our drug addict parents would leave us for days at a time while they went off getting high. my parents had a total of 8 kids. they didnt raise any of us past the age of 15 and most of us never got that far. we were in and out of shelters (my dad and brothers had to stay in the mission in between the wishkah and south shore bridges). i ate at the same table as a man (we called him the watch shiner, but his name was vincent) who would time how long it would take him to pull a razor out of his brief case, take his shoes off, shave the bottoms of his feet, put his shoes back on, tie them, and then put his razor back in his brief case. that's only one of my favorite aberdeen loones. you cant tell me aberdeen is wonderful because i grew up there. i still cringe when i go back to visit my family.

Yes there is a lot of bad "goings on" in Aberdeen, but there are lots of good people too trying to make the town a better place to live. My family and I have lived here for over four years now and have seen lots of improvements, decrepit buildings knocked down or being renovated, community groups, churches, etc. getting together to make a difference in the area. We have lived all over the state of Washington, primarily in the Puget Sound area. There are things I miss from the bigger areas, but I love the small town camraderie and caring hearts we have found in Aberdeen.

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Leo

If there have been slight tensions or frictions between you and a loved one recently, this is the perfect day to get them out into the open, thrash them out and then forget about them. Things could get quite heated in the process but don't worry because they'll work out all right in the end. Put as much energy into kissing and making up as you did in arguing!
