Is it perfect??? Of course not. They do bend over backwards to help people with families but you're right: more people get terminated for family/child care related absences then for any other reason.

If you think this job sucks, wait until mom and dad kick you out of the basement......errr I mean your apartment, and you're actually forced to go out into the world and make a REAL sacrifice for your family. Spend some time digging ditches or serving in the military.

Clearly, u must have a comfy position there. 2 yrs was all i gave them def not worth my stress the co is a big screw up messing up ppls acct, not properly training no respect and front when Chase visits. The poor temp work jst as hard n want participate in anything, thts a great way to show appreciation " sorry this is only for employees but would u like to donate money?" Horrible co. Say what u want too many chiefs not enuf indians..i guess u were one of the chiefs??

Bend over backwards for butt kissers n other managers n team leads. I dont kiss butt. A bunch of unprofessional blk women in power with no clue how to Conduct business. I have no kids n did job but i didn't have a closed eye to what's goin on around me. P.s i left on my own (one of few )

My wife has worked at assurant for over 4 years now and she loves it her pay is pretty decent and now she works from home. She has no complaints

I have been with Assurant for several years doing system support. When a comp breaks I get to fix it and when whole systems have errors or bugs I get to document them. This company is one of the worst about underhanded tactics that I have ever had the extreme displeasure to work with. I am looking for other employment because my conscious has gotten to me and I feel like taking a shower everyday when I come home. The following are facts...
The time keeping system IS hugged. There are frequent errors in the way time is calculated and when it is caught it is sometimes corrected, other times I have seen people complain to management only to end up in a discussion about their performance. And I happen to know about it because I was brought in on a conference call about the technical aspect and listened to them rip this poor woman to shreds. FYI, she was right about the error and one of the reasons given about why she was in trouble was that she was "obviously neglecting her work if she had time to play time card accountant."
Yes people have been fired for being homosexual, I worked on a HR system where the "owner" of the system had an email exchange with a manager about the best way to get rid of a gay man who "walked like a fag". The manager said that his "prancing" around should be enough to can him. They did...
Oh and becareful what you believe on boards like this, I put in the security request for a whole group to have access to social networking sites to put up "positive" posts. They call it guerrilla image management.
Stay away from this place unless you REALLY need the job.

I worked at Assurant for over ten years. There were good times and there were bad times. I do have to say the pay was good. However, they do not have any loyalty to the employees. This is see in the recent closing of the Lawton facility. The staff was repeated told that the Lawton facility was more secure than any other facilities due to the lower cost of living in this area and the unending supply of employees--military retirees and military spouses. The attrition rate at Assurant was always high. Part of it was due to the nature of the job. However, a large part of it was due to the narrowmindedness of upper management and the Human Resources department. Even if your supervisor or your manager was sympathetic to your situation, HR would not allow them to make allowances. Upper management--from Atlanta or Miami, really micromanaged the day to day operations of the Lawton facility. And look what happens...I hear rumors of embezzlement by the Facility Vice President.....HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM ... no wonder the facility is closing. They run off the loyal employees and kept the dishonest ones.

I work in ACT and it is horrible. Our jobs keep getting out-sourced to India and new positions are given to the indians. No wonder this place smells like curry and fart all the time.

I work at Assurant in Ohio and have been there 10 years. There is pros and cons the #1 con is the money. I have a second job because our pay is not enough to make ends meet. I feel we deserve more money for the hard work we do. Penny raises do not add up! Another con is all the drama and unfairness that goes on and unprofessionalism amongst management. I feeli it is a stressful environment and the big corporate people cut out all incentives now there's really no sense of pride or belonging working for this company. Everyone assumes we make big money because we have a beautiful high tech solar panel project.think again...before you think about working here.
