"More children live in poverty in Central Falls than anywhere else in Rhode Island. Just under half of the city's residents identify as Hispanic, and many say they do not speak English at home."

Notice how carefully the story avoided the illegal alien questions?

Yes, there are lousy teachers and it is up to the school administrator to get rid of the teachers.

The problem though is confounded when you have LOUSY PARENTS who don't value education and impress upon their children the need to do well.

Focus on the PARENTS.

You cannot assume they are illegal just because they are Hispanic. And even if they are illegals, they're only kids. They didn't intend to break the law, their parents illegally brought them in.

Central Falls High School students couldn't possibly have worse spelling and punctuation than Topix posters.

How are those rose colored glasses?

Not "all" are illegal, of course, but only someone in denial refuses to admit the probability that many are. Did you miss the part where "many" move around and don't speak English at home?

And your bleeding heart aside, the illegal alien children require attention and funds that are stolen from AMERICAN children, making it harder for them to get a decent education.

Lighten up!! Would you like your children punished or treated poorly because of something you did?

Deport the illegal aliens and the troubled public schools will be less troubled.

That's not the point, Rosie.

Obviously, your heart bleeds for the illegal alien children, but turns to stone when it comes to the inner city American children whose educational opportunities and their futures are being negatively impacted by these families.

The problem (across the nation) is lousy incompetent parents. But the saddest part is that the State of Rhode Island, proved to be the dumbest of all, by canning their teachers in the first place. Rhode Island remains a stain on rightious Mainstream America. And perhaps it's time for Heartland states as Wisconsin, to remind New England States, they've lost their sense of direction.

Don't be so quick to jump on the "Lets bash the illegals" bandwagon. We have a great number of good ol' americans who can hardly put a sentence together, who think spelling woof and maggot is akin to Shakespeare and show their ignorance every day on topix.

Our country needs to do a better job of teaching our children - yellow, black, blue, green, brown or purple.

Hey "Resopsibility," You're coming across like an illusional teenage twit (dumb chic). When I grew up and got through school, we didn't expect our schoolteachers to be police, parents and psychiatrists. And what do you have to say about your own Southern California, going down the tubes with gangland? I suppose you not only blame the school teachers, but also your police departments. And when that's not enough for you, you'll join the Black bandwagon of blaming ordinary Whites.

If the parents are to blame rather than bad teachers then there is no need to pay the public teachers so much money since they are only doomed to fail.

Because they admit that the problem is out of their hands and over their heads anyway.

So sad that you come across as a foreign born new American, or is it that you're still in your illusionary teens, that you find so much fault with school teachers. And we can only suspect that you also find fault with other authorities such as police departments. And that would lead us to believe that you and yours are "Welfare parasites" with in our American system.

The color of their skin is immaterial, Bleeding Heart. Your Kumbayah whining manages to ignore the fact that what little educational opportunity those inner city American children have is further eroded by the illegal alien children.

What the hell makes you think they have a "right" to an American education at the expense of Americans? Are you one of those "borderless" fools who doesn't believe in a country's right to control its immigration? If the current illegal alien status is allowed to continue, their numbers will continue to grow and the resulting chaos will ultimately destroy the United States.

I just call 'em like I see 'em, Dan.

The public schools are an expensive failure.

The public teachers tell us it's not their fault because the parents are dummies.

What sensible person would not wonder why we should pay public teachers so much money when they admit they cannot do the job expected of them because of circumstances beyond their control?

To "Mac-7," welcome to the topix forums, though I can tell you're just a little brother without wisdom. And for starters, please tell us what kind of school teacher you would be. What skills would you have to do the job? Come on "Mac-7" tell us how it's to be done (or stop your teenage bitching).

I'm not an airline pilot either but I still expect those who are to take off and land without crashing.
