I read in the newspaper that the muhlenberg county high schools will be merged and North will become muhlenberg county high west campus and South will become the East campus. also the school mascot will be the Mustangs.

I wasn't aware of South becoming East and North becoming West (that sound kinda odd doesn't it?), but South will be a 9-10 campus and North will be an 11-12 campus. I'm glad they decided to call them the Mustangs and not the Camaros. lol

So the school board can decide to merge the two high schools and they can even decide on the Mustangs but they can't decide on the school colors. Give me a break. Let the kids decide and get it over with.

The kids DID decide on the Mustangs by a vote. Patriots came in second. The kids also voted for a combination of red, white and blue. Let's see if that's what the School Board decides.

All students and teachers did have an opportunity to vote on the website. So someone must have liked it.

That's my point. If they decided to go with the kids vote on the Mustangs what is the hold up on the school colors. If they get hung up on this what are they going to about the tough decisions.

hey guys heres a great idea lets take mr.felixs money make some changes thet will piss some people off....make some people look important...make others rich and then realize in the years to follow when our students are exposed to more drugs..more teen pregnancies....that we could have used this money in more important places in our school and the county......

I think the consolidation will work out. There has been a lot of fuss over nothing. One thing I do notice (while browsing the net) is that some students from the South school talk a lot about how they are step children and such.

I honestly have not seen this 'posted' on the net from a person claiming to be from North. Oddly I even noticed facebook had a group saying something about how they went to the 'better' school and it was a closed group. It would be interesting to see how many 'better' people are really in that group since they are so above the other school is so many areas... ha.

This is not off topic for 1 reason. That is at least they are trying to end the color maddness. Starting fresh is better. I hope the parents of the north and south kids finally start telling their kids to be kind to others and not act all high and mighty or rich. Poor kids in the community are really mistreated by some of these 'better; acting students'. It's a shame if you ask me.

Putting money in facilities and space and proper technology instead of being one minded on logos is better. Students need space. Teachers in the community are very stressed and honestly it is going to take a LOT of work to get this all together by 2009/2010. I honestly think next years school test scores will be in the dumps. Even IF the desicion makers get their act together.

Come on people...the kids voted... et them have their say. It's not like they had a large list to choose from since, Tigers, Eagles, Cardinals, Suns , Stars, Golden Tide, and whoever else I left out were not available.

At first, I thought this whole idea of joining the schools sucked. But why do I care? I'm not in Kentucky enough to really say anything about it and it's all politics. Whether or not I like it, it's a done deal. Muhlenberg County Mustangs (which is a fabulous mascot anyways. Unbridled spirit... DUH!), and the colors, well... i think there should have been red or orange thrown in to keep south alive as well. I think of it this way, either both the schools were rivals or they were allies. Whether or not that was the case, both schools had talent in each sport. South had a better football team, North was better at basketball, both bands were good. What the students do is their business. Just because they are joining doesn't mean more students are gonna do drugs or there's gonna be more teen pregnancies. If they know about it, they are probably are already doing it unless they are smart enuff to stay away from the drugs or use protection when having sex. Anyways... I'm interested to see how everythings turns out this year. There are gonna be a few bumps in the road but it'll get better. So, for those of you whining about it, STOP YOUR CRYING! It's done and over with. No use in putting in ur opinion now when you could have done so before the decision was made. Let the kids make this work.

I just hate change. Central City had by far the strongest basketball tradition in the 10 district. They won more championships than the other schools combined. Ever time I go back home to visit, I must stop by the old gym. All the sweat that I dropped on that court. Glory Days
