Bless your alls heart. Everyone has failed to mention the fact that, Eric Wayne Berry, was a veteran. He fought in the Gulf War, fought for our country, for you, me, our officers & this is how they repay him? Great country! & on the DUI he got, I'm pretty sure there are senators who have gotten some. Google it.:)
God Bless you.

I have formed my own opinion from fact, not from listening to them, I'm just trying to make them realize what it's like. Apparently you already know how old I am, & my situation considering the fact you know about calling the kettle black, eh?? As I have an idea who you are ;) but you're not worth my time, rather than trying to make people feel bad in a situation like this, why not just keep your mouth shut & you can just bash me at a later time. This is not the time nor place, you'd think you'd be above that.. apparently not? But that's fine. FYI, I haven't gotten anyone killed. thank ya very much.
Ryan, I hope to see you at the funeral, Eric would have wanted you there & I know we all miss you dearly. If you can't make it we all understand, & we'll all love you the same :)
-If not we'll see you in August
God Bless
I'll be there,I just wish it wasnt like this.

Fortunately, you haven't yet. Bashing serves no purpose. Pointing out patterns in behavior does. This forum provides us with the privilege of freedom of speech...thank you very much.

I just want to give you all Connies point of view on this whole situation. she is devasted this is not what she wanted to happen she knew that Eric had a drug addiction and she had been trying to get him help for years. Everyone is so fast to say if it was bad why didnt she leave until you have lived in this kind of situation you have know ideal what you would do. she loved this man regardless of there problems and when you love someone there is alot of stuff you will take and overlook because you think if you love them enough they will get better but the truth is you cant help someone who isnt willing to help thereself. she has taken the abuse for years and dealt with it because she knew it was the drugs changing who he was. but his last threat wasnt against her it was against her son , and if anyone out there is a parent they will understand that you can take alot of stuff that is done to you but when someone threatens your child regarless of the age of your child you protect that child at all cost. and that is why she went to the police this time as a mother protecting her child. she did not want the police to hurt him she wanted them to help him but Eric made that choice, if Eric had done nothing wrong why did he not just go with the police and tell his side of the story that is what a innocent person would have done. He chose the ending that happened he pulled a gun on a police officer he threatned there life and they did what they had to do. Regardless of everything that has happened she is upset by the media bashing him and everyone on here bashing him, she wants everyone to know he wasnt a bad person he was a troubled person.

I do not know Connie, but I know of her. I know she made it possible for Eric to see his children, when he otherwise would not have been able to. I did know Eric, and out of respect for his chidren and family, I will not share my true feelings of him. However, regardless of whether Connie was the devil herself(which I am NOT impling), she did not MAKE Eric beat her or point the gun at the police offices. Those were his choices.

Guess "Citizen of Fort Smith" is worth more of your time than originally thought? ;) We can't all be smart. But we can learn from past mistakes (patterns of behavior) that lead to tragedy. I don't get the impression that "cfs" has any agenda other than stating the obvious. Hopefully, history will not repeat itself and whatever put this poor guy on this path of destruction can be changed, learned from or better yet avoided.

You all should stop bashing eachother. Its not healthy. We all should stop take a deep breath. The healing process will never be if we all continue to take our pains out on others. So please, can we all just get along for a time?Thats what i think eric would want.

Thank you to everyone here who is questioning what the police did. Why didn't they wait him out. No one was in danger in the home. Why didn't they call his family. They would have talked him out. But they went forward and killed him. I heard on the news that a cop had been killed recently. Possible revenge killing? You want to defend the police because there job is to protect and serve. But that is not what they did. If they did their job he would be home for Christmas. No one knows the situation about him and his wife. I won't go into it. But please don't believe everything you read. Remember a lot of this information is coming from the police. We have to question their actions. We have to. Otherwise this could happen anywhere to any of our family members. the police have to know that they will be held accountable. many of you want to defend the police but you cannot defend anyone until you know the whole story. I am an attorney and I see people get Protective orders against spouses all the time to get even. I see them make up horrible stories to hurt the other people. None of you know what their relationship was like. But to beleive without question the polcie and the media is truly frightening.

I agree 100%. 94 comments and only ONE is logical, intelligent & to the point. All the other 93 are pointing fingers at Mr. Berry, Mrs. Berry or the police (or other family members). All involved need time to heal, not put the blame on one particular person or party. This situation is hard enough. There are so many questions that may never be answered. Please have some compassion for EVERYONE involved in this situation...from Mr. Berry's family, Mrs. Berry & her family, Mr. Davis and his family and STOP the bashing. It is a horrible, horrible thing that happened and people are showing some true colors. I pray for each and every person involved in this because they are each grieving in thier own way. I especially pray for Mr. Berry's family in their loss of a father, son, brother, uncle, etc. I know he was loved by each of you. May he rest in peace.

I would of shot the suspect in the leg first. If your shooting a gun in city limits, it should be pointing towards the ground in- case of a miss. Sure the body is a bigger target, but that is a kill zone also. The suspect never fired a shot and should of been hit in a body part that was not life threating. It kinda makes me feel unsafe to even drive to work. If I get pulled over for speeding and go to release my seat belt so I can get my wallet out of my back pocket will I get shot by a trigger happy police officer.(Makes you wonder.) The police are suppose to be trained to be marksman. I shot a glock before and missed the bullseye. But the second time I shot I was close because I had enough common sense to see where I was aiming and where the bullet hit. You have to compensate for that. These officers get to have practice at firing the weapons and should be able to determine if it is a kill shot or not.
you have got to be kidding me. Shoot the suspect in the leg? Police are marksmen.. they are trained to shoot to kill. If you point a gun at a police officer you get what you deserve. Anyone who points a gun at a cop either wants to die or has intentions to kill that police officer. Suspects dont intentionally shoot cops in body parts. So if you where a cop and you came upon someone who pointed a gun at you, i hope you have your affairs in order becuase your chief will be taking your family a crisply folded flag. congrats on making the most dumbest statement in this form.

OK LETS USE OUR BRAINS HERE, YOU POINT A GUN AT A COP AND YOU WILL GET SHOT...I REPEAT YOU WILL GET SHOT. ONE FORT SMITH COP JUST GOT SHOT, DO YOU THINK FOR A SECOND THERE GOING TO TAKE ANY CHANCES. I FEEL BAD FOR HIS WIFE AND FAMILY DURING ALL THIS BUT HE PUT THEM IN THIS SITUATION. I ALSO FEEL BAD FOR BRANDON DAVIS AND HIS FAMILY, HE DID WHAT NO POLICE OFFICER EVER WANTS TO DO, BUT HE HAD TO. I, ALONG WITH EVERYONES ELSE DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY HIS WIFE STAYED IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP BUT I DON'T KNOW THE DETAILS. I BELIEVE THE OFFICER DID WHAT HAD TO BE DONE AND UNFORTUNATELY SOMEONE LOST THERE LIFE. MY PRYERS ARE WITH BOTH FAMILIES.

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THERE TALKING ABOUT. JIM YOUR A FOOL! LIKE I SAID BEFORE YOU POINT A GUN AT A COP YOU WILL GET SHOT. I THINK THAT GUY WAS WELL AWARE OF THAT TO, HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. IT'S CALLED SUICIDE BY COP. YOU DON'T HONESTLY THINK THERE GOING TO SHOOT SOMEONE IN THE LEG WHEN THEY HAVE A GUN POINTED AT THEM DO YOU JIM? LET SOMEONE POINT A GUN AT YOU AND SEE IF YOU SHOOT THEIR LEG. I HATE IT THAT THE GUY HAD TO LOOSE HIS LIFE OVER SOMETHING LIKE THIS BUT THE COP DID WHAT HE HAD TO DO. NO COP WANTS TO DO THAT. SOME OF YOU PEOPLE AMAZE ME, WHEN THE COPS ARE THERE TO SAVE YOUR BUTT I BET YOU WILL THINK TWICE ABOUT SECOND GUESSING THERE DECISIONS.

IM SORRY FOR YOU LOSE. MAYBE THERE WERE DIFFERENT WAYS TO GO ABOUT THE SITUATION BUT IT WAS THE DICISION MADE. THEY WENT INTO THE HOUSE TO BRING HIM OUT SAFE NOT TO SHOOT HIM. HE POINTED A GUN AT THE COPS....I WOULD BET ANYTHING THE COP WHO PULLED THE TRIGGER FEELS AS BAD AS ANYONE. IM SORRY IT ENDED UP LIKE THIS AND MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Revenge killing? You're ridiculous. How would you feel if you were the police officer that came face-to-face with a LOADED weapon? Why did Mr. Berry have a loaded gun in the first place? Speaks of paranoia. It also appears that there were a few calls to the police THAT SAME DAY in reference to domestic situations happening. Trust me, the police just don't show up without being summoned. I personally don't know the Berrys, but it takes two people involved to be called a dispute. The police have the unfortunate job of having to be "peacemakers" and try to bring the situation under control at the expense of their own personal safety. I'm also sure, since you're an attorney, you have seen people obtain restraining orders and then get killed by the person they've got the order against. Happens all the time.
